Cliff Notes version of tonight's speech--anyone?
Thankfully I wasn't home and missed it. What did I miss? Anything special or was he as retarded as ever?

1. Bush wants more power.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/09/15/AR2005091502252.html

Bush said tonight:
"It is now clear that a challenge on this scale requires greater federal authority and a broader role for the armed forces, the institution of our government most capable of massive logistical operations on a moment's notice."

http://www.thestate.com/mld/thestate/news/nation/12629945.htm

Bush said Monday that he wants to (reporter's words) "Grant wider leeway for active-duty U.S. military personnel to carry out law enforcement operations."

Bush wants Congress to let him use the military to arrest us.

2. Oh, isn't that lovely...
:sarcasm:

Thanks for the condensed version and the links.

I guess he's definitely going for the Hitler thing then, right?

:wtf:

3. Here's the gist:
"Since handling this disaster like a Republican has caused my poll numbers to reach unprecedented lows, I will now try and fool the people into thinking I will handle the rebuilding like a Democrat."

Also (and I haven't heard much discussion about this), * was slurring his words like he had a mouthful of novocaine. I was driving and listening to it on the radio, and my wife and I both wondered if he had had a stroke. In addition to all his weird tics, blinks and jaw-grinds, he has now apparently developed a major speech impediment.

5. Yikes--wonder if he is back on the bottle
so to speak. Or if he has had some sort of physical impairment, that's been kept quiet.

Thanks for the wrap up!

4. It was a wrapup of everything that happened over the past two weeks
plus the announcement that, like any irresponsible CEO, he is throwing billions at the problem in order to try and buy himself some better numbers.

His proposal, if enacted, would be perhaps the most liberal agenda in the past 60 years.

6. Ah--so in other words,
that will happen when monkeys fly out of his butt...
