Primetime: Another screwup - U.S. not prepared for Asian flu pandemic |
|
Last night on Primetime they discussed how the Bush admin has dropped the ball by failing to prepare for this potential pandemic. The U.S. only has 2 million doses of vaccine. Other countries such as England have stockpiled enough for 1/4 of its population.

1. I saw this...fell asleep before they told me what to do in the event of a |
|
nuke in my city.
I couldn't decide if they were really trying to show what the admin wasn't prpared for, or if they were trying to scare the shit out of us so that we'd give the admin more power.

2. I also wondered if they were trying to scare the public but the |
|
portion on the flu pandemic definitely wasn't favorable to the Bush Admin.

4. Is a prescription required for Tamiflu? |
|
Edited on Fri Sep-16-05 06:23 AM by Skwmom
Some online sites required a prescription, others didn't (though they could be bogus sites or selling something that isn't actually Tamiflu).
On edit: I did wonder if they wanted to boost the sales of the companies making Tamiflu but discounted that theory because it seems like they won't be able to manufacture enough to satisfy the existing demand for it.

6. It's been about 85 years since the last pandemic. |
|
Pandemics, like ice ages, are normal occurrences on this planet.
We're overdue.

7. Not prepared? My fear is that they are fully prepared. |

Perhaps the Bush admin wants to downsize the US population. What do you want to bet that Bush has already gotten his vaccine?
Of course he's gotten the vaccine, along with his 1,998,999 friends and friends of their friends. This includes the doses set aside for house members who continue to vote against any "resolution of inquiry." Who needs an investigation into the accelerating body count that can easily be explained by "incompetence?"
The last 1,000 doses (of the 2 million allotted to the US, will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
After 9/11, Iraq (well over 100,000 killed), Katrina, ...this one's a no-brainer.
