On Imus he just said (paraphrasing) that "some people" are saying that the issues of race and class that have now come to the forefront because of Katrina could have been addressed a long time ago had Clinton's last four years in office not all been about Monica. Who are these people Brian? Just curious.
I was wondering how long it would take Brian to blame this on Clinton.

1. So then Brian is saying that the GOP has been f*cking up for far longer |
|
than he had previously thought? I mean, if the GOP had not wasted so much time, effort and money in the unveiling of one man's affair, that man could have done more "hard work" of the type the GOP is unfamiliar with. Right? :hi:

2. So many valuable things could have been addressed. GOP does |
|
not address issues that give them political wedges. They don't solve problems that work in their favour. They didn't heal fear after 9/11. They used it and kept it going.
Same with voter transparency. If there is a pay-off to them - the issue is kept alive.
Yes - how silly of Clintonites to think that at the very end of the millenium... people should have been thinking about what it all meant and coming up with shared dreams and all.
Repukes were seething mad when Clinton was elected. Just seething. In fact - Clinton did much to heal race issues on his own. Not with making it a national dialog like it needs to be.
Very true.

11. The core of Clinton-hate |
|
from the get-go has always been racism (he's a race-traitor), just as the FDR is/was perceived as a class-traitor. The Clinton-haters cannot deny nor debate this fact without admiting it.

12. Also at the core was that the GOP people had had Reagan then Bush |
|
for 12 years..and they could not for one moment accept a President who was not exactly like them. It was a crime from the get go that their particular agenda was not in place.
Terrible people who don't care what living in a democracy really means.

15. I agree wholeheartedly. |
|
Some people are in denial about the reason for such deep hatred of Clinton. It was never about Monica but about the fact that Clinton treated black people with respect, did not seem to hate them as so many in this country do. Also he gave blacks very prominent positions in his cabinet. He really did want his cabinet to reflect a diverse America. Some of the people who hated Clinton most were white southerners.

16. Less about "Cabinet Positions" and more about policy on the ground. |
|
And the fact the middle class was encouraged instead of split down the middle as it has been under Bush.
Clinton was for the middle class. He used policies that saw everyone take partnership in the health of the economy. Everyone - even the rich had to help fight inflation.
Now - only the middle class & the poor do. And rich get perpetual markets. They get Keynesian wars (instead of Keynesian government spending which encourages a bond between people and governance).
Rich uber elites sacrifice nothing under Bush. They hate everyone but people who can make them richer & more elite. That is why they hated Clinton. He was for the middle class. And a healthy America based on that.

3. The GOP have been traitors to the US citizens for over 2 decades. |
|
They stood againt comprehensive anti-terror legislation for YEARS before 9-11.
They blocked public revelations in IranContra and BCCI that would have exposed the global terror network at its roots years ago,
They used the banking committee to spotlight TWO hearings on a failed land deal where Clinton lost 40, 000, while they altered the banking laws quietly to allow predatory practices by banking institutions and Enron style accounting practices from the country's largest firms.
The Republicans as a party are TRAITORS.

5. Well then, if the repubs hadn't been so hell bent on finding dirt on |
|
Clinton and trying to remove him from office- more important matters would have been addressed and handled. The Repubs screw up again.

6. Scaife & minions did much damage to this country |

If I weren't against the death penalty, a firing squad would look pretty good for them.
Their entire goal was to be sure Clinton couldn't accomplish anything his last term. Greedy, traitorous scum.

10. Agreed. He was saying that the Monica-craze of the right and the |
|
media kept Clinton from getting real work done. The Monica issue seems small nowadays.

9. I think there was an element of media criticism there as well |
|
Now that the media have awakened, they are having to look in the mirror, and realize that their role is not small. They were the midwives to the birth of this monster...

13. I have two responses about race and Katrina |
|
First-It didn't matter. They screwed this up so royally that race was actually taken out of the picture by the unbelieveable level of screw up that they attained.
Second-When ISN'T race a factor? Have you lived in United States in the last....well ever have you ever lived in the US?
