Anderson Cooper's done a good job in New Orleans

He's earned his stripes covering this Super Disaster.
I'd like it if his show replaced Aaron Brown's time slot.

What do you think of his reporting?

2. I was very impressed with what I saw from him

during most of this disaster. It had a definite effect on him, and it was clear that he was just utterly amazed at the lack of coordination and aid. I think he had his cherry popped.

Here's hoping that he and many others have tossed their blinders in the garbage bin next to the talking points.

I think that he's been changed by his experiences.

I've been impressed with him, particularly when he's put gov't officials on the spot for not understanding the scope of the disaster.

6. He actually earned his way into journalism

He went to Bosnia on his own as a stringer, and kept sending his stuff to everyone.. ABC finally hired him as a overnight host (he was very good there)..and has landed at CNN.. When you consider how he did not even HAVE to work..(He could have lived off famnily money), he's a dedicated reporter..

I have always liked Anderson :)

18. The first time I saw Anderson Cooper...

Was on Channel 1, a commercial-laden "news" show that was satellite broadcast into high schools. He was the one that they sent on the tougher assignments. He went to Haiti the first time Aristide <sp?> had some problems. When Aristide was ousted (fled/kidnapped/whatever) the last time, Anderson showed some of the Channel 1 footage on his CNN show.

And since that was my first exposure to AC, I'm rather fond of that season.

People have to understand that these guys are not free to do whatever they want to do. They can do their jobs fully only when management allows. For some reason CNN has taken the gloves off with Bush and is letting reporters like Brown and Cooper run with it.

Anderson is great...He was particularly bothered by something that horrified me too....I'm referring to the dead bodies that were left lying in the streets for days....Anderson seemed to mention these bodies every time he was on the air. He spoke of the dogs chewing on some of the bodies at one time, I remember....

10. Cooper has always been good, hasn't changed

I saw him on another show (Maher?) and he was asked why he didn't report aggressively in the past on issues like WMD. His answer told me a lot. He basically said that he had no choice because on the WMD issue everyone agreed, even the Democrats, so what was there to say?

I do agree that overall the media has given Bush a free pass until now, but I think the individual reporters have been itching to get their teeth into hard news stories all along. Until now, however, they have been kept on a short leash.

now that looked like a lot more fun.

He's "family" but he has gotten under my skin some times; particularly maddening during the last election. Overall he is very likable though, and very much a human-oriented reporter and not an ideologue playing dress-up as a journalist, and that's more important than whether I agree with every conclusion he reaches.

I generally really like Aaron Brown. I may not agree with him on everything but I think he is objective and can pick up the important points many others neglect.

I think Anderson Cooper has been great but we can use any decent journalists we can get.

in the past - the media always has been more "liberal" simply because they were on their feet in the midst of news. That's so rare in this corporatized age, and they had essentially all become spin monkeys.

coverage was refreshing. He seemed real, approaching human. Showed emotion while also being on top of the stories, which I know was NOT easy down there. He seemed genuinely affected. Anderson should win some kind of award for TV journalism for his work in New Orleans.

For once CNN got a story that ACTUALLY WARRANTED their bombastic over-the-top sensationalism!

No doubt he has lead a priveleged life of wealth. But he can get real quick. He kinda has that Ritchie Rich thing going. Poor little rich boy actually cares about the less fortunate. He knows that there are more important things in life than money. How can you not like him?

He's not even 40 yet, so he'll have quite a long career in front of him. Some very distinguished journalists have retired or passed away recently, and if he keeps up this standard of reporting, he could be filling some pretty big shoes.

30. I've like Anderson Cooper for ages

Being nocturnal I used to watch him every night on World News Now and I just adored him. I knew he was going places, too, even back then, I could just feel it.

His coverage of Katrina has been the best, IMO. He is really talking truth to power and shining a light on the situation, and was one of the first to do so. I'm very proud of him, but I hope he gets some counseling sooner or later...hell, I hope everyone down there does, media, evacuees, etc, with the things they have seen.

32. Anderson Cooper has joined my pantheon along with

Keith Olberman, John Stewart, Greg Palast. I also would love to see Tony Zumbado Of MSNBC nominated for a Peabody or a Pulitzer or whatever. Anderson gave great commentary and was particularly great when he told Mary Landrieu to cut the back-slapping, but Tony Zumbado may have made the biggest difference with his on-site reporting and his pleas for humanitarian aid for the people in the Convention Center. I will NEVER forget that coverage.
