Camp Casey completely STOLEN Thursday night!!!
Edited on Fri Sep-16-05 10:38 AM by Opposite Reaction
Just heard on Thom Hartmann that Camp Casey, the crosses, tents, Caset's boots, everything was removed by unidentified individual(s) last night.

Anyone have info on this? It was NOT planned or authorized by Cindy. In other words, everything was stolen.

Edit to change remove (sic) to STOLEN and a few !!! because it has been confirmed.

CRAWFORD — The Camp Casey Memorial on Prairie Chapel Road was removed by thieves earlier today. Not a single item is left at the memorial site.

Crew members working for McLennan County said they witnessed items being removed by an unidentified individual and contacted their office to inform commissioners.

Upon arrival at Camp Casey, honor guard members who had been at the Crawford Peace House immediately called McLennan County Sheriff’s Deputy R. Polansky to report the theft.

Among the items stolen were numerous crosses, Casey Sheehan’s boots, tents, and other items.

CROSSES GONE — The remaining three honor guard volunteers held hands and wept as they offered a prayer of peace where Casey Sheehan's cross stood.

23. Was there a tent or canopy there for a time?
The grass/weeds may have died out if that's the case. It does look odd, though.

25. Vinyl floored tents and canopy, I think.
The grass died underneath.

Again, I think, I don't know.

Parking Banned Near Bush Ranch

(AP) Two weeks after Cindy Sheehan left her anti-war campsite by the road leading to President Bush's ranch, county commissioners have banned parking along 23 miles of roads in the area.

Before the 4-1 vote Tuesday, McLennan County Commissioner Ray Meadows said about 80 residents had complained of blocked roads, loud music and public health and safety concerns during the 26-day protest near Mr. Bush's ranch outside Crawford, about 20 miles west of Waco.

"It's not a First Amendment issue. It's a safety issue," Meadows said, adding that "no parking" signs could be put up this week.

(How do they know that this was done by a “private individual”?)

Camp Casey Memorial Stolen

(excerpt)

McLennan County Commissioners road workers were in the area to post the “No Parking” signs that had been approved by the Commissioners’ Court. Those signs were on a 26-mile stretch of several roads. According to a representative of the County Commissioners’ office, the act of removing items from the ditch had nothing to do with the Commissioners and that this was done by a “private individual.”

17. What were the honor guards THINKING?!?
If someone could come in and mow down the crosses, one of his comrades could easily come in and steal everything at the site, including Casey's boots. It's not that hard to visualize. Why the hell did the guards leave something of such profound sentimental value out there for just anyone to steal, vandalize, etc.?

My blood is boiling at this point. Never, never give these treasonous bastards an inch.

...I was afraid of being the only one with this opinion, but what the heck are "honor guards" there for if they aren't, you know, guarding the site?

Hopefully, the boots will be returned, even if it's "no questions asked."

29. Amen...
I have never seen such nastiness and hatred as I did up there among the pro Bush people. Just the sight of an anti war sticker would set them off-and I mean the red faced, arteries bulging screaming meme fits. Real anger management issues. If they had been one of my kids-they'd have gotten a time out until they got control and then a nap. I am not suprised that they did what they did.

Were any of those items going to D.C. for the march? I'm still hoping that there was some miscommunication and maybe the items are being transported. I really hope something can be saved here. Maybe the person or persons will at least return Casey's boots to Cindy.

When I first heard the "Memorial was stolen" I thought it was merely the crosses, which can be replaced. For those people to have stolen the actual possessions of the fallen . . . How truly sickening.

It makes me wish there was a hell for them to burn in.
