"No more money, no more time. I'm done."
So sayeth a co-worker of Mr. W_D this a.m. He was involved in the state Bush* 2004 campaign so he's more than a Replicant, he's a kool-aid drinking Bushbot* But he's not given "more" money and his not giving more time (and he was a guy who acted on his convictions---he put in the time and gave out of his own pocket I'll give him props for that. Talked the talk AND walked the walk). But, no more. He feels used.

His problem with the speech? Not the cost---he's saavy enough to know that what doesn't go to "investment opportunities" (he's already bought two properties in N.O. in the last week that we know of) or to corporate contractors will be (in his word) "eliminated, no big deal its just for show" but he is angry about the reimbursement to religious charities. He's good church-goin' fundy but his view is that HE donated to the Southern Baptist group that does mobile kitchens and if they get reimbursed for what they spent of *his* donation then they should return it to him. Basically, he like others we have both spoken to this a.m. are not terribly happy with various elements of that religion/money connection. One woman was actually pissed that two weeks later, US gov involved dispersal of people, etc. and "still the hand is out!" Another is afraid that "bad religions" will get money that should go to Christian groups. Still another guy is angry that ONLY religious groups seemed to get credit.

Its quite a mix of angry people in west Tx (my corner anyhow...) when you then add in the "fiscal conservatives" who think FDR was just raised from the dead!!!

I'm waiting for a "head explosion" at this level of anger.
