CAMP CASEY VANDALS - If you're out there, take a damn good look at this...
Edited on Fri Sep-16-05 01:16 PM by derby378
I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence and
So the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same

And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their world
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're going through

David Bowie,
Changes

I know you're out there.

I can feel you now. I know that you're afraid. You're afraid of us. You're afraid of change.

I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it's going to begin.

I'm going to hang up this phone and then I'm going to show these people what you don't want them to see. I'm going to show them a world without you, a world without rules and controls, without borders or boundaries, a world where anything is possible.

Where we go from there is a choice I leave to you.

2. They took everything...
The crosses, the tents, even Casey Sheehan's boots. This is first-class desecration in my eyes.

4. I think it was Thursday morning...
...according to a local television new broadcast. The Brad Blog just reported on it earlier today.

5. And we are certain
it wasn't folks from the Camp Casey organization who were just packing things away?

7. The honor guard at Camp Casey would have been notified
They're the ones who discovered the campsite was looted.

6. How awful. Those that did this are CRIMINALS. They desecrated
the memorials of those soldiers who have DIED doing what they thought was their duty.

This was just so wrong on so many levels. I hope they catch who ever did this, try them and then throw the book at them. :nuke:

9. Remember that "Liberal Hunting Permit" someone came out with?
Maybe it's time we start issuing our own permits for neo-cons.

Catch and release, of course - release them into the hands of the families of those who died in Iraq so that they can 'splain themselves.

15. Sadly many of those who have lost loved on in Iraq are just as neo-con
as the ones we'd be catching. :(

11. If I had known this would happen, I would have taken the boots myself
Crosses can be replaced, but this pair of boots rightfully belongs to Cindy Sheehan.

I would have snatched them up before the thieves came, taken them home, and rang Cindy's cellphone the next morning to let her know the boots were safe and sound and arrange for her to get them back.

I think you're right - these boots would have definitely found their way into a museum or a permanent memorial of some sort. That's probably what the vandals were afraid of.

13. You know, that's exactly what I'm hoping for
Some criminals are so stupid that they'd actually try something like that. Since these guys were probably FReepers, it's guaranteed they're two tacos short of a combination plate.

14. I was just about to suggest that someone watch eBay for them...
If you're a member it's easy to run a few searches using various keywords and then "Add to Favorite Searches". eBay will send you an alert via email if anything comes up matching. If it does the police andeBay can be notified. eBay will usually work with the police in the case of stolen property.

16. Don't think so.
Once the attention was off Camp Casey the secret service moved in, at (someone's) behest. That stuff is now all in a landfill on (someone's) ranch.

I'd lay a good wager on it.

17. "We don't care." Didn't they state that outright early on in the protest?
Isn't that what counter-protesters chanted when Camp Casey sang "God Bless America?" Was that the song?

Keep it up, FReepers - you only make Cindy look better and better.

20. No parking now within 23 miles of the site
The bots moved quickly to ban public parking on 23 miles of PUBLIC roads around the site - in Thursday's Dallas Morning News.

They are terrified of the negative reaction to the Fuhrer.

21. That's not exactly true...
The ban covers 23 total miles around Nero's mini-ranch, not a 23-mile radius surrounding the site. Downtown Crawford would fall within the radius, which would make life unbearable for those who work on the main drag.

22. They have cursed themselves many times over
Remember how those crosses stuck in Larry's tires, and became his undoing?

Whoever did this - whether "official" or just certified asshole - is the lowest form of life on the planet.

Lower than that, even.

They will wish they'd never done this when their shit hits the fan. I feel it in me bones....
