7. I think the ad for meeting "conservative republican singles" was a hoot! |
|
In light of Gannon's "past", the inserted ad on this site was hilarious. Wonder if the ad placement software chose that one to be on top on purpose. It's damn funny.

I do not remember where I got it. Sometime, a long time ago, I copied it from some site and saved it. If you want it I can send the original graphic to you. You play?

Two worthless music performance degrees. Well, not worthless, they just prepared me for a job that didn't exist.
Thanks for the offer of the graphic. I just found a small .gif of the Buffet Crampon logo I'm trying to figure out how to get it into my posts.
Do you play or teach?

in the orchestra in my city. I have been doing that for 30+ years. Second clarinet and Eb.
I got a Music Ed degree and never even considered using it. Wanted to do performance but there was nothing there for a young female at the time, difficult at best to use it.
Both of my sons are getting music degree right now.
Fellow reed players unite!
Do you still play?

but I gave up trying to earn a living at it in my early 30's. I was a substitute and tour player with the St. Louis Symphony, played sabbatical years in the Louisville and N.C. Symphony, played in an Italian opera orchestra for a couple of years, did far too many Drop Kick Me Jesus Through the Goal Posts of Life services on Sunday mornings, and taught a gazillion little kids with no interest in learning how to play. I still teach a few kids and play a little around town but now that I have a "real" job and a family I don't really have the time to practice and mess with reeds. I'm sure you know how that goes. Nice to meet you.

I do understand about all the church gigs. Well, they do seem to pay better than the ballet jobs around here (like one a year maybe?). Not earning a living here that is certain, in fact very few can do that. I gave up the teaching. I could not take all the cancelled lessons for football games, because I didn't practice, because she is crying about the second movement....blah blah blah.
It sounds like you did a whole lot more than I have although we have a really good orchestra here believe it or not and I do get paid at least a little, pays for reeds anyway.
Nice to meet you too.
