the NOLA funeral band switches from a dirge to a "second line" that is more joyful after the casket is lowered.
Of course Bush did not understand what he was saying at all and that's all he conveyed.

5. "quench" means to fulfill, to satisfy, such as water quenching thirst. |
|
It's an inane metaphor.
At least he didn't say "drownded" :)

Song of Solomon 8:7----"Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it----" entirely out of context, of course

an Area Choir several years ago... "Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm, for love is strong as death. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it, neither can the floods drown it, for love is strong as death......" and it is from Song of Solomon. I like to play with words as much as anyone, but this isn't really an appropriate one, imho.

He meant "quell," I guess. And "drowned" is a tough word. 7 letters. By this point I have "beated" a hole in my computer screen and my head really hurts.

So I checked - yup! I might have heard muddy wrong - would have to listen again. On this National Day of Prayer and Remembrance, we pledge ourselves to the demanding work of revival, and renew the faith and hope that will carry that work to completion. In the worst of storms, and in the rush of flood waters, even the strongest faith can be tested. Yet the Scriptures assure us, "many waters cannot quench love; neither can the floods drown it." http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/09/20050916-4.html
