Poll question: Red cross or salvation army
If you were only able to donate to one or the other, which would it be?

I no longer trust American based charities.

I WOULD send it to Camp Casey Covington, though.

17. vehemently anti-gay too, msongs
I read a story about them refusung referrals from a gay friendly church. Then there is that deal they cut with Rove early in the Admin. money for waiving local anti-discrimination laws. If it were to discriminate against any other group,it would've been called bribery.I gave to help the animals, as they seem to have been forgotten

one is partisan and puts funds for victims into a "war fund" and one discriminates.

the salvation army won't hire gays and I don't like anything about the red cross. I've given money to Mercy Corp, Habitat for Humanity, Humane Society and Convoy of Hope.

9. I pick "C"
The poll needs a third choice.

The Salvation Army's "christian" background and the salaries paid to the upper echelons at Red Cross dissuades me from donating to either.

10. I got a letter from the Red Cross yesterday asking for $$$
for the Katrina disaster. So I said to myself "self, why do they need to waste money and trees to ask for money when their phone # and www are plastered to every channel on the tube"
I'm still waiting for my Salvation Army request for loot.

11. Neither - I pay taxes for this type of thing. However,
as our taxes are misused and abused by the Resmugs, I sent a donation to the DNC.

THE RED CROSS IS KICKING ASS AND HELPING ONE AND ALL AND TOTING THE LOAD. Have your house or neighborhood or town destroyed and then vote in a poll. THE RED CROSS WILL BE GETTING MY COUPLE OF BUCKS FOR YEARS TO COME.

14. Hi!!!
I've been looking for posts from you. You were one of the last ones to report in, glad you made it through in one piece.

Red Cross helped us when our home burned too, they are the ones who are there, with tangible help, first.

18. Thank you Sandnsea
We made out pretty good, minor damage to home, lots of trees down but we will be okay and the Red Cross has been awesome. I don't know what the red crosses politics are and I don't really care but they are on the ground daily helping all of us. Their support has been incredible. Thank you very much for your very kind post.

20. That is so good to hear
I went through one little hurricane in Biloxi, back in 76. Not sure where it made landfall or anything. Seems like there were more tornado watches with it. We were living in one of those nasty trailer parks a few blocks outside of Keesler, where all the trainees lived. More than the hurricane though, I remember palmetto bugs!! I didn't know they had a name, all us 'yankees' just called them flying cockroaches! Good times, hehe.

Why wasn't that an option? I wouldn't give to either one of them...there are so many other more worthy charities around.

19. Why wasn't it an option?
Because they are two of the most well known charities - and the question related to if you had one of the two which would you choose? Me I would choose salvation army - but then they have helped me in the past and I did work for them for troubled kids so I am a tad biased.

16. We wrote a check to the Katrina Relief Fund
in the office, where the owner is going to match, as he did with the tsunami. But then I think that ours went to the Red Cross.
