Chavez is the left's greatest leader, if you don't agree, you just don't |
|
Edited on Sat Sep-17-05 01:09 AM by Melodybe
know it yet.
If you don't agree answer these five questions and tell me what one person has done all those things on a global scale?
______________________________________________________
In the last five years...
Who else has stood up and damanded to have the same time as Bush?
Who else has been heroically applauded by the world's diplomats for eviscerating Bush at the UN?
Who else has had the nerve to call Bushco a terrorist and not back down once?
Who else is stood up to the big oil companies and said NO?
Who else has been offering a beautiful and glorious religous voice to the left?
____________________________________
Hugo Chavez is the only political leader on Earth to do all those things.
I'm telling you, if you disagree, you just don't know Chavez.

|
people cowering in fear over the wrath of Bush they stood up and cheered him on!
That is so awesome, it just doesn't get any cooler than that.
I'm telling you if you don't agree, you just don't know.
Someone please post a link to Chavez's appearence on Nightline, he spoke like an an angel.
It was amazing.

CHavez speaks like a real Christian with a kind philosophy guiding his words and deeds. Koppel did the standard interview format that doesn't lend itself to challenging ideas. He seemed to sigh (I'm just reading the transscript) when he heard that oil would keep flowing to the US. and "on that happy note," he wrapped up the interview, like a spent lover rolling over and falling asleep. As if that's all he wanted from Chavez. Can't put my finger on why this impression is so strong.

|
is only capable of producing violent and criminal leaders.
The most violent and horrorible regimes in South America were sponsored by the USA. Go read up on Iran Contra and Henry Kissenger's death squads, it is so important that all Americans know about what OUR government has being doing to people.
Our government has said to almost every third world country, be our slaves are die, that is wrong.
Chavez is a voice od hope and reason, I hope that you give him a chance, he's brilliant.

The exact reason the right-wing American Apocalypse hates him so much. They smear him with the same verve and vehemence they used for John Kerry. To them, vicious lying in the service of Republicanism is no vice. (Paraphrasing Barry Goldwater - which I've never done.)

36. Just how democratic is it to cater to the interests of a minority? |
|
"The Left" is pretty much equivalent to the Labor Movement, while the RW represents an elite minority. Workers are clearly in the majority.
The RW wants to privatize everything, enabling hoarding of wealth by an influential and already wealthy few. The left wants the opposite, that is not to allow hoarding wealth by a few but for all people to share in the wealth.
Serving The People is not only Left, is also is much more democratic then serving primarily a wealthy influential minority.

Who else has stood up and damanded to have the same time as Bush?'
Very simple. George Galloway.
Who else has been heroically applauded by the world's diplomats for eviscerating Bush at the UN?'
George Galloway.
Who else has had the nerve to call Bushco a terrorist and not back down once?'
George Galloway.
Who else is stood up to the big oil companies and said NO?'
George Galloway.
Who else has been offering a beautiful and glorious religous voice to the left?'
George Galloway.
Hugo Chavez is a man of the "cloth". George Galloway is a true pacifist, and leftist, since he's been saying it all since before Iraq started.

Chavez is the President of one of the world's largest oil producing countries, I meant heads of state.
But I heart Galloway, he is my hero for life, I think that he is witty and beautifully good.
Every time I think "Pact of lies!" I get a chill.
I'm still going with Chavez because I think that the world needs a little leftist influence on religion.
Jesus was on the side of kindness, acceptance, and love. No matter how many ignorant christians twist his words to support their hateful arguments, Jesus still is light and peace.

29. When Koppel said, "except the cameraman" |
|
Edited on Sat Sep-17-05 02:23 AM by I_am_Spartacus
Chavez didn't laugh with Koppel. He looked at the cameraman. In his face you could almost see him expressing sympathy and solidarity with the cameraman -- as if to say, "I'm a president of a foreign nation and you're a cameraman who works for a millionaire and I have more simpatico with you than I have for Koppel."
That reaction was probably completely unconscious, but was very revealing. I think a lot of conservative assholes would have looked at Koppel and laughed even if they thought he was a jerk. Chavez looked right at the cameraman and didn't laugh.

52. I believe Galloway is a devout Christian, also |
|
This probably explains his aversion to abortion and euthanasia.
And yes, it would be fitting for prophetic Christianity to be at the fore of a new leftist movement. After all, the two most successful progressive actions in American history--the abolitionist and civil rights movements--were fueled by such fervent religosity.

But, however it happened, Castro has managed to survive for 40 years, despite people within Washington wanting him dead. So, I have some hope. But one big difference: Castro was never sitting on such a quantity of oil. Given the way things are going on our planet, "oil" now represents something increasingly rare and precious, without which life as we know it would be virtually impossible.
We've seen just how ruthless these 'oil men' can be. They will do anything, say anything, to maintain control of the petrochemical energy markets.

Chavez also has troops that believe in him, he is loved by his army.
Bush's armies are coming home broken men, coming home to broken homes, coming home to bankruptcy, coming home to the truth, they are fodder to these monsters, nothing more.
Chavez treats his armies well.
Plus unlike Shrub, Chavez is one of the world's most beloved leaders, while Bush has been buring bridges, Chavez has been meeting with world leaders and offering something better.

What is the basis for calling him a radical?? He is not a dictator. He is certainly not a Marxist. His human rights record is certainly better than the almost any of his neighbors according to every credible human rights organization in the world.
He is called a radical because he represents opposition to a world system that has radically increased the gap between the rich and poor.
I live in the Philippines part the year. Like in most of the third world, there are more fine restaurants, night clubs, cafes and boutiques than ever before. If you read the financial journals, you will hear how the economy has been growing and growing and economic opportunity is getting better all the time.
If you talk to the vast overwhelming majority of Filipino's (the same can be said of almost every other developing country) you will hear a completely different story.
Hugo Chavez has emerged as a worldwide voice for those who are not welcome in the fine restaurants, boutiques, night clubs and cafes of the world.
God Bless him.

The most telling part, for me, was when he started his liberation theology bit... my mother looked at me, like a light bulb had gone on (she is no churchgoer and fairly moderate/liberal, anyway).
I just said, 'See the contrast with the Republicans and their presentation of Jesus' message and relevance? I would love to see Chavez debate Pat Robertson on religion.'
Even I wasn't turned off by the religiousspeak. Because he was right. If people took it to the limit, like Jesus, and were really willing to Do the Right Thing and love their fellow man, etc., etc... well, you can imagine...
That was the message I took away from The Passion of the Christ, too - which I actually liked very much (though I didn't understand why there was very little on the resurrection).
