Op-ed from Donna Brazile - draw your own conclusions
Edited on Sat Sep-17-05 09:41 AM by DancingBear
This showed up in the form of an op-ed in today's Washington Post.

Thanks for all the "help" Donna ...

I Will Rebuild With You, Mr. President

By Donna Brazile

New Orleans is my hometown. It is the place where I grew up, where my family still lives. For me, it is a place of comfort and memories. It is home. <snip>

On Thursday night President Bush spoke to the nation from my city. I am not a Republican. I did not vote for George W. Bush -- in fact, I worked pretty hard against him in 2000 and 2004. But on Thursday night, after watching him speak from the heart, I could not have been prouder of the president and the plan he outlined to empower those who lost everything and to rebuild the Gulf Coast. <snip>

The president has set a national goal and defined a national purpose. This is something I believe with all my heart: When we are united, nothing can stop us. We will not waver, we will not tire, and we will not stop until the streets are clean, every last brick has been replaced and every last family has its home back. <snip>

Mr. President, I am ready for duty. I am ready to stir those old pots again. Let's roll up our sleeves and get to work.

5. WOW - what kind of kool-aid did they feed her?
The only thing I agree with is a partial statement ---

Quote- "When we are united, nothing can stop us. We will not waver, we will not tire, and we will not stop" END QUOTE

The ending of the sentence written by me: "Until we remove every last one of this administration and the congress who has set idly by letting the regime get by with all that they have"

I cannot believe how bad she has succumbed to this right wing administration!

7. perhaps this is the challenge line:
We will not waver, we will not tire, and we will not stop until the streets are clean, every last brick has been replaced and every last family has its home back.

Every last family has its home back.

As in - if this is real we will work with you - and this is the goal - not enrichment for the few - not displacement of the money - but real reestablishment for the displaced.

Or at least one could read it this way.

8. She is ONE of the reasons Gore lost

I have been following her closely and I think she was a spy for Bush.

She has been VERY cool, no guts, for anything Democrats do.

Yet she, and James Carville too, are trying to play both sides.

I say, cut her from the party!

52. She meets Karl Rove (her good friend) fro lunch every week
:puke:

She's a paid shill.. for either side.. When it benefits her to be a democrat, she's that..when it benefits her to be "moderate", she's that....when it benefits her to cozy up to republicans , she's that..

She's basically "in it" for Donna.. That's fine with me...as long as she does not pretend to be a liberal voice.. She's a black, female Alan Colmes..

another troubling thing about Donna.. It sounded to me as if her sister's "care" was less than fantastic, down in N'awlins.. Seems to me that sister Donna makes a tidy income, and might have helped her family a bit more financially..(just my $.02)

14. Ok....so we're gonna need...
....a stretcher, some smelling salts and an anger management specialist waiting in the wings.

When Donna realizes that Junior's words were the biggest load of bs--she'll need support and some help getting through the trauma of total betrayal.

Shrub is laughing his hiney off at Donna, right now.

These thugs are doing exactly what they want: Making millions for Halliburton, Bechtel and other neocon "friends". They've tweaked the system to ensure that they won't have to pay fair wages (Yep! They really want to help the poor, don't they?), and to make more profits for their corporate buddies who garnered no-bid contracts.

Junior's Dem-like talk was hollow rhetoric. We're supposed to believe that he's dumped the life-long beliefs that he and his family have touted for generations? All of a sudden, Junior sees a connection between racism and poverty? Oh PLEASE! They hate affirmative action. The first thing Junior does when he crafts a budget, is cut programs that benefit the poor and those in the inner cities. Junior refuses to meet with the NAACP.

He doesn't believe what he said. He doesn't even know what he said. Rove wrote it for him.

My guess is that some of this "compassion" is an attempt to shield themselves from the Fitzy storm that's bearing down on them.

It's too bad that Donna can't see that this is just another lie. She knows what a shameless, lying thug Junior is. I guess I don't fault her. New Orleans has special meaning to her. She's heartbroken. She needs to believe that Junior wouldn't be so heartless and evil.

Again---in a few months--we'll have the crash cart and the support group waiting for Donna--when she realizes that she (and so many others) have been lied to, once again.

16. Conservatives were very upset with his speech.
To them...the only thing worse than his speech is if he really meant it. Brazille's letter sounded almost like satire. It was a response based on believing every word he said. Maybe with her letter she is pointing out the absurdity of his speech. It could have ended with "and we will be showered with pixie dust and the world will live as one!"

Or...maybe a tree branch fell on her head.

19. I just wrote to the Democratic Party
Here's my note:

Don't even think of putting Donna Brazile in any position of power. After reading The Washington Post, I am disgusted. I suspected she was a Republican mole when I read her conclusions about the 2004 election, but after reading her praise of Bush in the Post, I know she is. Don't expect ANY money from me, ever again, if she is involved.

I am really tired of dems praising Bush, for anything he does. It's like, Bush gets a pass again.......... Do any of them have memories? Do they forget all the crap he's done? Instead of Brazile kissing his ass, she should have said, "it's about time, Mr Bush!"

is as you suggest - and a view that frankly could turn the gulf coast away from the GOP.

She knows how they operate - heck the first big contract was to Halliburton. Push the "putting the trust in pres to be doing things to help "every family" reclaim their home. When the pres and his cronies break that faith (which their MO suggests they will, and with a trail of concrete evidence of fraud by contractors) the faith broken will be with the Pres and his party - for abandoning those in need, not once, but two times.

37. This is the mentality of too many of our "Democrats" in office.
This trend has been ever since 911. Most of our Dems are too spineless to speak up if things are handled wrong for fear that they'll look un-American or something. Their "congeniality" and gun-ho to misguided "support" is as much a cause of the ruination of this country as the Repugs mishandling of everything else. Only a precious few have been brave enough to speak the truth. The Emperor has no clothes sydrome continues!

And I was surprised to see just how unqualified she was to run Gore's campaign in 2000. She did have some experience in Jackson's presidential runs, but she was fired from the Dukakis campaign - not an easy feat for that mess of an operation.

She does come across as very, very liberal in her book, but when you read crap like this you have to wonder. She's very close to Landrieu - in fact, she worked on her campaigns - so it's possible this is a coordinated strategy to hold Bush's feet to the fire to come through on his promises. Praising him so effusively, though, is going too far. Maybe she's trying to drum up business for her consulting company.

45. With "friends" like her we don't need any enemies
I am so outraged at what appears to be Republican plants in the Dem party. Personally I'm now believing that the DLC is a Rove idea to neutralize and villify Dems. Why doesn't the DNC appoint/hire Dem pundits to appear on CNN/MSNBC/CBS/NBC/ABC who will actually give people the Dem philisophy and views?

I get the feeling that there is a complete lack of organization in the DNC. We hear about Rove's talking points. What about ours? If propaganda as with the WHIGS is the way to influence the ignorant in our populace, why don't Dems have their own version?

There should be an organized message between pundits and Dem Congressmen/women. While I totally applaud the only ones with guts who are fighting for us, these are the Congressional Black Caucus. Where are the white representatives and senators? When one has the courage to tell it like it is, the rest of the white Dems quickly denounce them publicly ala Dick Durbin.

Dems are constantly being attacked for politicizing critical issues that require public debate. When are they going to step up to the plate and in unison, every Senator, Representative, and pundit, on TV and in newspapers and in Op/Eds, expose this smokescreen with the truth?

I don't believe anything is going to change until and unless WE THE PEOPLE demand it. We're so busy with responding to polls, signing petitions, and writing LTTE, on the issues, which is good but it's way more important to sign petitions and write LTTE to get OUR representatives and senators off their butts and know we mean business.

We need to kick people like Donna Brazile over to the Rupukes where she belongs. If she wants to constantly critize Dems and support the * regime, what the hell is she doing representing us officially on TV and in the papers? Why are we allowing it?

The * regime has made any compromise in government impossible, yet our Congressional Dems are still living in yesterday when this was expected. I can't even count the times when I hear Dems refer to someone across the aisle as "my good friend." Yet I never hear this from the Repukes.

The great divide in our country is a war of principles and ideology that threaten the continuation of American life, ideals, and dreams. By our representatives and pundits, supporting the most corrupt and illegal administration in modern times, they are aligning themselves with this criminal treasonous cancer that has a stronghold on our country.

Maybe if they expressed the outrage at the steady stream of unjustices we witness every day, Americans will finally wake up to what's really been going on.

If our leaders can't stand up for the future of our country, then we need to replace them with leaders that will.

If she wanted to help, she'd be challenging the Bush Administration to give local businesses the priority in rebuilding contracts, pay the prevailing wage (as they are required to do), and reconsider their deeply flawed economic ideas, which put money into the hands of the mega-rich at the expense of our own country's infrastructure.

If she just wanted to be nice, she should offer constructive criticism. That letter is typical suck-up garbage.

She SUCKED in helping our REAL PRESIDENT GORE in 2000.

Fuck her...
