News: Katherine Harris needs "extreme makeover" to win Senate race

If Katherine Harris has any hope of beating U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, she may need an extreme makeover.

The Republican congresswoman's poll numbers are poor; her appearance is a distracting issue; and many non-Republican voters see her as a flirty, vacant, beauty-queen wannabe who used her role in the 2000 presidential recount to get to Capitol Hill.

Most political observers think that she can make the race competitive, though, as long as she can shed that image.

"She's going to surprise people who think she's not going to do well," said Carol Weissert, a Florida State University political science professor. "I just hope it goes beyond whether she has too much makeup and what she wears. ... If she does talk about issues and she's able to put this aside, it may be a very different campaign a year from now."

Hannity and Colmes: she was standing facing away from the camera, her shoulders pulled ridiculously far back to emphasize her chest.

19. Oh my God, I saw that interview. It was so abnormal. She was standing

at a 45 degree angle to the camera, with her shoulders pushed back and her chest pushed out. The mateial in her blouse was stretched to the limit. I thought she was posing for a porno magazine....LOl.

I hope I'm wrong, but I am so sure she's going to beat Nelson, and you know all of the means are in place to ensure she does "win."

I believe that despite the beating the radical right is getting now, we are going to lose at least a couple of net Senate seats next year.

And voters in Florida should be reminded every day that cruela de harris brazenly disenfranchised thousands of voters, primarily minorities. And speaking of minorities, it should be abundantly clear how bushco* views minorities in this country.

I don't think cruela could win a clean statewide election. But as has been pointed out, jeb and the rethuglicans own the Florida election infrastructure. I wonder how messy the primaries will be, and who will bushco* select to do their dirty work.
