The People vs. Larry Flynt and Judge Rehnquist...
Was Rehnquist the guy that ultimately ruled in favor of Larry Flynt in this case?

Anyone know?

If so, was he not as evil as many of us have been saying of late, or was this just a good day for him?

1. In the Falwell case he wrote
"At the heart of the first amendment is the recognition of the fundamental importance of the free flow of ideas and opinions on matters of public interest and concern."
ruling in favor of Flynt

2. He was evil - don't be fooled
He was evil incarnate, and it's a good thing he's dead. This guy Roberts cannot possibly be any worse than Rehnquist, the miserable bastard should only burn in Hell for all eternity, was.

He was the last surviving member of the Court that decided Roe v. Wade, and, of course, he dissented. He was all for speeding up executions and curtailing defendants' appeals. He was all for crawling up into women's bodies and not allowing them to own them. He was all for letting states do whatever the hell they wanted to do and call it "states' rights."

He was a miserable, miserable bastard.

The Flynt case was so clear-cut and easy to decide, it was unanimous, I think. So, don't give the dead old fuck any credit for doing what he was supposed to do in the first place - apply the First Amendment equally across the board.

Man, I hated him. Does it show?

3. LOL!
Um, yep--it shows! LOL!

But I don't blame you one bit--and no I won't be fooled. I was just surprised to hear that he was one of the people that ruled on this case and that Larry had won.

Given that he was up against the poster boy of all things 'right wing,' Jerry Falwell, I was just surprised they ruled for Flynt.

I wasn't aware he was one that rule on Roe v. Wade. He sounds like an awful man, and justice. Who nominated him to the seat, I wonder? I wonder if they knew he would be such a hard ass, evil bastard?

Was Rehnquist ill a very long time, to your knowledge?

4. He was a Nixon appointee
Read about him here - http://tinyurl.com/czz5y

Oh, he was everything Nixon hoped he would be - and more.

Here's the opinion in the Flynt case: http://tinyurl.com/7n2ac

The issues in that case were so narrow, they could not have justified ruling any other way. The Court today, though, with Scalia and Thomas, wouldn't have any trouble, I fear, dissenting from this opinion on the most intellectually specious and punitive grounds.

He wasn't sick long enough, in my opinion.

5. Bleuych! That's enough--Nixon appointed him...
Yikes--what a scary guy!
:scared:

This is exactly what I fear of Roberts...

Isn't it interesting that those that wreak the most havoc in their lives tend to die really slowly and painfully?

I've always found it to be an odd poetic justice that raygun took away benefits from the mentally ill, and was struck down by mental illness...

6. Alzheimer's isn't a mental illness
It's a brain disease, and not treatable by psychiatrists or psychologists. That's my experience, anyway.

Oh, Reagan was so much worse than Nixon, hard as that might be to believe.

Karma's such a royal bitch, ain't she?

9. Kiss my bitter ........... oh, it's MONGO!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite feminist!!!

Hi, sweetie - I'm tearing up the airwaves tonight, since The Yellow Peril is off with his pals doing manly things (I think they're shopping for moisturizer).

Cancer was too good for that mofo. I have a client who's been imprisoned illegally for more than thirty years because of J. Edgar Hoover and Rehnquist.

I hope they're doing a nice, damp waltz in Hell.

10. Thanks for juicing my imagination
Just imagine both Rehnquist and J Edgar Hoover waltzing in hell? Will J Edgar be wearing his favorite flowered dress for the occasion? How jealous will J Edgar's lover Clyde be with this date? Hmmm, inquiring minds want to know.

8. That it is...and you're right
Reagan was worse than Nixon. At least we got rid of Nixon, when his actions caught up with him. But I do recall some tough times under him--the energy crisis--very long lines at the gas tanks. Crazy times, I was very, very young, so my memories may not be accurate or particularly specific.

I was punished for speaking out about Nixon in my home (father was a freeper).

Thanks for the correction on alzheimers. :hi:
