Blackwater Security/Live In New Orleans
Edited on Sat Sep-17-05 09:50 PM by ls317
MOYOCK, N.C., Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Since first joining the relief
efforts on September 1, Blackwater USA continues to provide support to the
hurricane devastated area through a variety of services including search and
rescue, helicopter support, security services, and critical infrastructure
protection.
"Blackwater is proud to serve the people of New Orleans," said Bill
Mathews, Executive Vice President of Blackwater. "First and foremost, this is
about Americans helping Americans in a time of desperation. We will continue
to support local, state, and federal offices and commercial entities with
talented professionals to augment their relief and recovery efforts."
To date, Blackwater continues to provide, on a pro bono basis, a
helicopter to support U.S. Coast Guard rescue missions. As of Sept. 12,
Blackwater aircrews have moved over eleven tons of supplies and rescued 121
people. Blackwater is also providing security services to federal agencies
working in the declared disaster area.

1. NOLA Cops Bolted to Blackwater
One cop source has indicated that many of the NOLA cops who turned in their badges marched over to Blackwater to get the stylish black costumes and $350 a day jobs guarding big downtown hotels when they aren't riding around in Hummers to find old ladies to roust out of their homes.
This means you have two levels in Blackwater--the elite level who have served overseas, principally in Iraq and the less than elite cop-no-wannabes. Either way, it's darn scary.

2. I've heard of unmarked black vehicles roaming around at night up in
Algiers. The vehicles have what was described as "NOLA police in them and they're armed" and they've been frightening the local residents.

I bet that there's a lot of KKK crackers on the loose to, down from Homer probably.

God, this is ALL so COMPLETELY insane and unbelievable

4. A Tandem Step Toward Vigilante-ism
The Blackwater issue is serious business for the rest of us. It shows that you can have your own crew of vigilantes if you can pay for it. We have local cops in my city who rent themselves out to the local businesses for fat overtime checks. The feds had to get involved because the line between right and wrong behavior at clubs and bars got a little blurred.

7. This is so incredibly scary
That they can be bought so easily, when their job is SUPPOSED to be to protect the public.

Blackwater are straight-up thugs and murderers though, as we all know from their "handywork" in Iraq.

I've heard that 1,000 regular NOLA police were sent to Las Vegas and Atlanta to "rest"...I think there's about 150 Blackwater thugs in NOLA. And I'm now wondering whether those 1,000 regular NOLA police were deliberately sent out of the state to get them out of the way, in case they put up a fight and overpowered Blackwater.

I would think that no matter HOW tired they might be, those police would have wanted to stay to help out their city in whatever way they could.

3. OOOH a whole big, black, shiny helicopter?
What federal agencies need security? The Army, FEMA, or the National Guard?

5. All of the Above
Well, in Iraq the Army or our interim "civilian" govt. needed renta-cop Blackwater operatives. The thing is--if you sub-contract to these buzzards you can blame them when there is a mistake--.

6. It's not pro bono! Those mercenaries are being paid by you and me
(i.e., the taxpayers).

As posted on another thread, Jeremy Scahill reports, "Well, now they have been forced to admit, the federal government, that Blackwater is on federal contract with FEMA to protect -- so-called protect, its rebuilding or reconstruction efforts in Louisiana. This is just one of the firms that is getting now federal money."

Why would the Chimpy administration want to spend money actually helping people when it's so much easier to line their friends' pockets?

8. Yup, like any temp agency, Blackwater charges double
The $350/day for for deserting NOLA cops is really more like $700 per day to American taxpayers.

Betsy DeVos, former head of the Republican party in Michigan and wife of an Amway heir, has a brother.

He owns Blackwater.

God bless America.
