Challenge: Can you post ONE thing good about a Dem you've bashed? |
|
Edited on Sun Sep-18-05 09:03 PM by smartvoter
I'm betting this thread drops like a lead balloon, but let's see what happens.
I will go first. I wrote a big rant on Kerry when he conceded Ohio at a time that I viewed to be too soon.
Since then, however, he has introduced badly needed legislation in several areas, he is one of the few who is challenging Bush at every turn (e.g., Rice) and he, unlike many other Dems (or politicians in general) has demonstrated that he is capable of admitting mistakes (like the vote to authorize the use of force).

he can speak with great eloquence. I admire that even if I might disagree with what he is saying.

I'm not in the business of bashing Dems, except in the case of Zell Miller and maybe Joe Lieberman-and at least Joe is a genuine environmentalist.

He was actually a very good Governor. The Zell that was in the |
|
Senate was not the same guy who was the Governor of Georgia. See his speech for Clinton in 92 and you will get an idea of what he was like. Very progressive in his first term as Gov, second term a typical moderate not a conservative Democrat. Changed completely when he went to Washington. The theory here is some big wig Democrat in Washington insulted him or pissed him off someway or he just became demented in DC.

Nice enthusiasm and sense of rage from him when the occasion suits him.
Quite a showman...nice dresser with two great boys...both of whom seem to want to be in politics. Particularly Beau Biden. The heir apparent to the MBNA Lobby money.

I love him because he always seems breathless and a little "off schedule" and he often mispronounces things and forgets where he is.
Sort of like the "White Rabbit" in "Alice."
It's very charming.

16. Ok- here goes: My list- |
|
Lieberman's Jomentum has remained a good source/fodder for laughter
Wesley Clark is going to be a great politician- I'm glad that he ran in 2004. He's gotten some more experience, and the next time, he'll know how to handle the media circus.
Feinstein gave a great opening speech at the Roberts hearings.
Howard Dean has shown that gutsy politics can translate into having passionate supporters. (Something that others may want to think about)
John Kerry has been sticking up for the American People since the election. He would have made a good president.
Ok, I'm done with my happy post....
Oh- wait: I have 1 more: Zell Miller is no longer in the senate. Now THIS is a good thing! :bounce:

and I hate it when I see other Dems do it but that Zell Miller is crazy and I said so. The good thing I have to say is that he is a good example of what happens to folks if they stop taking your meds. This should encourage all patients to be compliant. I give Dems a pass on bashing Liberman.

Clinton's work, a First Lady, on health care reform was admirable.
Also, I find her to be a class act. She has been one of the most scrutinized women in our history, and through every storm she has handled herself with grace & dignity.

off the ground. Bill balanced the budget. Hell, he did more than that. He gave us a surplus. Kerry criticized * over Katrina, which needed doing.

care and Bills raising taxes to fight to balance the budget. What happened to them after that...well we all know. If they'd come in like the Chimp and rammed everything through who knows...maybe we Dems could have gotten away with it and we wouldn't be living in this Hell we are today. But, sadly history is history.

36. Kerry challenging Bush "at every turn" LOL!!!! Now that's funny! |
|
Edited on Sun Sep-18-05 09:57 PM by radio4progressives
If anything Kerry is doing can be considered remotely "challenging" -why even bother? If it isn't on my radar screen - it may as well not even be happening.
And by the way, what is the point of placing any value on "one good" thing about any candidate ?
We're not electing officials for single issues only are we?
If we are, I can think of three or four single issues Kerry should go after if he wants my attention.
But then again, Kerry blew all those off in 2004.

No, the point is not to elect on single issues. It was to see if we could be big enough to say something decent about a Dem we tend not to like. Simply a counter to all the negativity out here, exemplified with crystal clarity in your post.
