I was driving back to work from lunch a few minutes ago and I paused to let another vehicle, an SUV, into traffic. Predictably, the rear window held both a University of Alabama and a sorority decal. There was also a place on the lower right side where it looked like somebody had rather vigorously removed one of those "W" stickers. The spot was the right size and shape, and that's a typical spot for those things. The glass actually looked scratched, though that seems unlikely.
At any rate, it gave me a little hope that more people are starting to see the light. This is the first time I've noticed even a hint of the tide turning against the Beast in Tuscaloosa. Just thought I'd share.

1. It could just as easily be a liberal who defaced someone else's car... |
|
Just sayin'. It's not necessarily a sign of anything.

I guess I'm in "glass half full" mode on this one, but there isn't any way of knowing for certain.

But there was a thread here a few months ago about a naval officer who had been arrested and charged with vandalizing cars with pro-* stickers on them. That seems to be the exception, though, rather than the rule.

5. I may not, and you may not, and Average Joe here may not... |

but plenty of us do. In Jeb Bush's last gubernatorial campaign here in Florida, his workers were complaining statewide about the level of vandalism. happens all the time. People on both sides are plenty guilty.

8. I think you're going to hear more of this. |

The same thing happened as Nixon was on his way down/out.
Suddenly, and mysteriously, you couldn't PAY people to admit they'd voted for Nixon. It was Richard Milhouse WHO?

9. I've been watching for W stickers |

And I've seen a lot less than before Katrina.
I think things are starting to turn around.

10. "Impeach Bush" sticker spotted in Colorado Springs on I25. |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-19-05 01:19 PM by MissMarple
Of course it was a California car, but it was so great to see. I honked and gave them a thumbs up, it was two young women and with a pet carrier in the back. They probably thought I was nuts. I was driving to Denver and we had a long traffic back up because of a series of accidents. So I checked out the other vehicles for stickers. I saw no W stickers, no Bush Cheney stickers, a handful of support our troops ribbons, and the one Impeach Bush sticker. It was remarkable how sticker free all those cars, trucks, and vans were.
Oh, El Paso county is the fundie capitol of the western U.S.
