Scotty said today the deficit will be halved by 2009
"The costs we're talking about related to Katrina are going to have a short-term impact on the deficit. They're one-time costs. But we believe we can continue to meet the president's commitment to halve the deficit by 2009," White House spokesman Scott McClellan said.

My question is whose deficit is he talking about, because he sure couldn't have meant the US.

I wonder when Scotty is going to leave the WH and go on tour doing his comedy act? Damn, but he's funny.

9. They are using some guesstimations that the deficit could be halved
by 2010 .......if the tax cuts DON'T become permenant. In fact if they went away then there is maybe possibly a chance that the deficits that THEY created could maybe possibly be halved.

Maybe.

but only if their tax cuts are erased off the books.

Seriously that is where this comes from.

3. We've had a lot of "one-time" costs.
That is total BS that we can halve the deficit.

11. So Scottie, are you telling us you found a buyer for the state of Texas?
I mean . . . selling a state is the only way I can think of to halve the deficit in that kind of time.

It couldn't be a small state that we sold, it'd have to be something big . . . I mean I guess we could sell a small state, as long as it had huge profit potential, but really, in all honesty, who wants to buy New York?

It'll have to be Texas that we sell. I'm sure we can get enough out of it to pay off half the debt.
