Good morning, children, the word of the day is "BOLD"...
The White House spokesman, Scott McClellan, did not respond directly to Mr. Clinton's remarks about the hurricane-relief effort or mention the former president by name. But in a statement on Sunday, Mr. McClellan suggested it was unfair to link the plight of low-income victims of the hurricane to the economic policies of the Bush administration.

"There is a deep history of injustice that has led to poverty and inequality, and it will not be overcome instantly," he said, adding that President Bush "from Day 1 has been acting BOLDLY to achieve real results for all Americans."

He added, "Do we think in new and BOLD ways by focusing on innovative programs that work for all Americans, or do we embrace failed policies of the past which have resulted in too many being left behind?"

1. Bold's been one of their favorites for a while now....
much like "compassion" or "go fuck yourself" ... OK, OK. Admittedly, that last one's in private, more often than not.

2. well seeing as the failed polices of the past are things like
trickle down economics; tax cuts for the rich and the cutting of benefits for the poor - I suspect the answer here is yes you will keep doing what you are doing. Not because you expect them to work - heavens not even you are that insane - it's just you get so much money out of them. And that's the important idea here - seeing that people with money, lots of it, get more money, lots of it.

3. You need to distinguish between programs that have failed
and programs that have not succeeded yet.

Headstart for example is a failure - kids still have a hard time in school. Tax Cuts for the Rich, however, is a policy that simply has yet to succeed. But when it does succeed, watch out!!!

5. wish Clinton were so bold as to
point out that the $200 billion reconstruction initiative will mainly go to the contractors who are already making a killing in Iraq.

Guess he's paying them back for attacking the wife.

12. They trot out "bold" whenever they're in trouble
Interesting to note that the original meaning of "bold" comes from the Old Norse word ballr, meaning "frightful, dangerous"
