Republican friends and colleagues? |
|
I have posted my experiences with them in the last few days. I work in a heavily GOP infected field.
I am shocked to see the flip flop, Bush is a crumb because of the slow Katrina aid, no wait, the news says Bush is not to blame. All is good again. That was my experience, I am interested in what others are experiencing.
Yeah, I know, you have to actually talk to them, but it is important to see if the GOP spin machine is fixing this latest screw up. :hurts:

13. That is what GOPers are parroting in my area. |
|
The mayor and governor have been branded as incompetents, Bush is not to blame, and who cares anyway, those that stayed behind are looters, rapists, murders and drug addicts.
Compassionate conservative sounds about as nice as humanitarian Nazi.

I didn't even see the initial flip. They all just stayed exactly the same as they were before.
These are really intelligent people. I. just. don't. get it.

if you have the wherewithal to invest, and you have no social conscience, this is the party for you. the republicans are the personification of the 'me' generation.

17. I agree, Ellen. The people where I work make very good money... |
|
and I know that this makes them more likely to be selfish. However, they're good people who are willing to help people individually. I really think that they've been brainwashed somehow. Any chance that Fox News might have subliminal messages being beamed along with their broadcasts? ;)

4. Sadly this is my experience, living in a 'red' area. Most shrub supporters |
|
eagerly drink whatever foul Kool-Aid is poured in front of them that tells them their hero is okay even if it goes against intuition.
The obvious answer is the majority of them are still in the herd.
The key question is, did ten percent or so of their base get "liberated" to where they might stay home or vote Dem or other next time? That would be plenty, if the votes are counted.

8. Same here, it's all Nagin's fault.... |

except for the stuff being blamed on Blanco.
Notice the black guy and the female in the Gulf are taking heat, but the "good ole boy" Barbour seems to be blameless. Have you heard any criticism of him?

And, the good old Clinton bashing was in strong force last week. Clinton had Osama Bin Laden in custody and let him go, therefore, 9-11, the Iraq war, the war on terror are all Clinton's fault!
Yep, I had to bite off the end of my tongue to avoid bludgeoning the repug who told me this.

21. Many Were Waiting To Be Told What To Think |
|
For the first few days, there was disarray by many Repugnicans...but that didn't last. All they needed was to see some pictures of blacks looting (Faux running it endlessly) and the game was on.
Then, anything the boooooosh regime didn't do was because "those looters". Next came the shots back at Nagin and Blanco after they had had enough...thus "the blame game" ((c)2005 RoveCo.) that gave them the scapegoats as to why the troops were kept out. It wasn't boooooooosh...it was Blanco and Nagin who didn't want the aid they were crying for. Yep. Some good logic in that one.
Along the way there's the myth of the flooded buses, as though there were A.) Enough drivers B.) A way to get all those people on those busses and out of town without clogging an already congested evacuation and C.) where were you going to take them? Yep, them white towns to the north and west would sure welcome a bus load of inner city blacks in the middle of a hurricane. Just like they'd gladly open their homes.
The game about "why didn't they leave" and the victiming is an old Repugnican trick...especially against blacks. Remember, it's their fault they live in poverty. Once the race card was played...and when the wingnuts started in on the "they're looting" crap, THEY were the ones who started making race THE issue, then we knew any attempt at reaching these losers with any compassion was exposed for all to see.
Now I expect to see a "let's move along" game. Ya know...the flood's over, the people are scattered...nothing to see here, we've got a gay marriage ammendment or Iranian nuclear threat to be distracted with.
But with a new storm brewing...all bets are off on if this country can stand the lying and denial much longer.
Cheers...
