BACK CINDY: contact NYC mayor & NYPD internal affairs for busting up spch
Since most of us aren't eligible to vote in New York, what you can do to register a protest is call, fax, or write and tell him you can't visit and spend your tourist dollars in a city that doesn't respect First Amendment rights, particularly on an issue this important:

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg
City Hall
New York, NY 10007
PHONE 311 (or 212-NEW-YORK outside NYC)

FAX (212) 788-2460

E-MAIL:
http://www.nyc.gov/html/mail/html/mayor.html

You could also contact the NYPD internal affairs and ask that they investigate whether there was a political motive for this action:

The IAB Command Center office is open for complaint, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
phone to (212) 741-8401
E-Mail to IAB@NYPD.org

mail:
Occupant
P.O. Box 1001
New York 10014

OR:

Internal Affairs Bureau,
315 Hudson Street,
New York, NY 10013

1. My fax to Bloomberg

September 19, 2005

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg
City Hall
New York, NY 10007

Mayor Bloomberg,

I was very disappointed to read today that your police department attacked and stopped a speech by the mother of a fallen soldier, Cindy Sheehan, in an area where events like this are normally allowed.

Mayor Bloomberg, unless you and your police department publicly apologize to Cindy Sheehan and those who attended her speech, I will not travel to New York City and spend my hard earned tourist dollars there. I don’t want to go somewhere civil rights and dissent are not respected.

I strongly urge you to apologize and make this right, before it leaves a permanent stain on your tenure as mayor.

4. Sad day.
It is a shame they lost touch with their true purpose - To Protect and Serve the public and not the regime in the White House.
