British military reportedly engineered Iraqi jail break

Big News Network.com Monday 19th September, 2005

Not much credence has been given to claims in recent months that much of the violence in Iraq has been carried out under the instructions or approval of U.S. and British forces.

The argument goes that as long as unrest prevails, so too will be the need for the occupation.

Adding to the intrigue have been events of the past 24 hours.

First, two gunmen dressed as Arabs suddenly began firing on Iraqi civilians in central Basra. There were no deaths but a number of people were wounded. A traffic policeman was one of those hit.

The gunmen fled the scene but were captured shortly afterwards. They were taken into Iraqi police custody and questioned by a judge. It was then established the two were not Arabs, they were British soldiers; a fact confirmed by British military authorities. The troops were apparently engaged in what they said was an undercover mission.

a police patrol. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4819548

This article claims they opened fire on Iraqi civilians in central Basra and hit a cop. Two separate incidents or one in the same? Just what kind of riots is this meant to cause? Spark off more violence? More profits in a civil war or rise in activity?
