We just booked our trip for Sept 24 March on DC
We have never been involved in anything like this before & would like some input on what to expect.
I am wondering if wearing an anti-Bush t-shirt will hinder our flow through security at the airport. Anyone experienced this before?
Is it the norm for police to adopt an adversarial position toward participants of a march?
Also, my main concern is that I want this to be a peaceful event which I can be proud of participating in & from which positive change is manifested.
Thanks for your advice & see ya in DC! :hi:

1. I'm using common sense......
The police are looking for disruptors....That said, drawing strong attention to yourself will put them on alert mode. They expect passive statements, T-shirts etc.....Code Pink gear such as shirts and hats always triggers an alarm. I'm wearing my Code Pink shoes which is much more suttle.

2. I'd advise against wearing the shirt at the airport
Unless you wear something over it, which would be easy to do. You know the security personnel would be on heightened alert and it takes enough time as it is to get through the security checkpoints.

Good luck to you in D.C. and post a report for us! :hi:

3. I'm bringing anti-Bush t-shirts with me to wear while in DC
but I'm not wearing one during the trip there and back. I figure why piss off the TSA people.

I've never been involved before either, but from what I've read here on DU about the DC police, they are well used to protests and if you do what they tell you to, there won't be any problems.

Be sure to check out the DC Forum for updates on where everyone is meeting Friday night, Saturday morning etc.

:hi:
