"Bush is a bungler, not a racist "....et tu Richard Cohen?
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/348118p-296913c.html

If you told me that George Bush is a dummy, I would argue with you but understand why - all those idiotic statements. But if you told me, as some have been implying, that George Bush is a racist or that he doesn't care about black people, I would not only say that you're wrong, but add, "Not the George Bush I know."
Of course, I don't know George Bush personally. But in his first presidential campaign, I traveled with him and saw that when he talks about poor kids and racial and ethnic minorities his feelings are genuine. This is what I believed then and this is what I believe now.

Others obviously believe differently. The rapper Kanye West, appearing on an NBC special to raise money for flood victims, said, "George Bush doesn't care about black people." And national polls have shown a racial divide in appraising how the government did after Hurricane Katrina. Blacks by and large think race played a role in the laggard relief effort.

---------------BULLSHIT richard cohen, i know a white racist fucker when i see one, i grew up around them in the midwest, i know.

i am so sick of SO CALLED LIBERALS who've suddenly become BUSHAPOLOGISTS. fuck that noise.

1. "...his feelings are genuine."
And what exactly gives you that idea you fucking schmuck? What he says? Or what he does? * has done nothing but spend, spend, spend, in the name of corporate interests and to top it all off made them pay less taxes.

You're a fucking idiot.

2. I consider him more of a classist, not a racist.
Equally bad, IMO, but I believe it's a valid point. * only cares about one color: green.

And he doesn't care whose wallet it comes out of as long as there's a lot of it in there.

3. First he writes the George Bush he knows is not a racist.....
then in the next sentence he writes "Of course, I don't know George Bush personally". Talk about a contradiction. Also, all the BLACK people are wrong according to this WHITE columnist. I guess a president making "all those idiotic statements" is also commendable and it doesn't make him a dummy.

He did not suddenly become a Bush apologist. He always has been a Bush apologist.

14. Perhaps Richard Cohen is a bit of a racist himself...
if you notice the subtle remark he makes regarding the Rev. Al Sharpton, "he has been functionally unemployed all these years. To me that is about as racist as you can get.

6. As an African American...
I retain the right to say, unequivocally, that he is a POS racist. That bastard knows that most of us did not vote for him, and did not think it was a pressing matter, to save those trapped in NOLA, for the first few days.

11. Thanks for posting this. I just whipped off an email to Mr. Cohen..
I read your story. I agree bush is not a racist. He doesn't give a damn about anybody, black or white. The man has done nothing in his entire life that shows he cares about any body but himself. I don't care how much you saw him wax compassionate while he was "campaigning" <sic>. It was an act! The same way he said he was a, "uniter not a divider", (empty words), "a reformer with results" (empty words he stole that from John McCain), or that "Jesus is favorite philosopher" (empty words because there is no Christianity in the things he does). The man is a pathological liar. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of the needle than for bush to ever tell the truth....about ANYTHING!!! I can't believe that you took the time to defend him about anything!

Respectfully,

13. We don't have any proof.
Edited on Tue Sep-20-05 06:28 AM by BullGooseLoony
That's the problem with making an accusation like that.

All we have is, "Hey, I've seen this type of guy before!" Which...while being kind of an ironic statement....doesn't really work.

15. Please regard the source of this ridiculous piece...
During the 2000 recount Richard Cohen wrote in one of his column that, yes, he had voted for Gore but wished he had voted for Bush. The guy is an ass!

19. Talk About Kool-Aid Drinking
This line just got to me...

I would not only say that you're wrong, but add, "Not the George Bush I know."
Of course, I don't know George Bush personally. But in his first presidential campaign...<snip. <rip> <flush>

Well, based on this "journalistic" evaluation, let me add mine. I don't know boooosh personally, but the "George Bush I know" IS A racist, is classist and cares only about what's best for George Bush than for anyone else...especially if it's someone "inferior" to him and his ilk.

Don't these hacks get tired of having to carry so much water? If these blowhards want to do us a real favor, they can suck up all that water left inside New Orleans. Might clear their toxic brains.
