Pam Hlady letter: Last thing we need is more Bill Clinton

To Danette Nicoloff (letter, Sept. 11) who misses the “good ol’ days of Bill, Hillary, Ken and Monica,” give me a break! It was because of Bill Clinton that we have all of this underhanded politics, a Democratic Party that absolutely refuses to work with President Bush in the Senate and the mudslinging in the press.

Thanks to Clinton, he introduced mafia type leadership in the White House, pandering to small but vocal special interest groups, making executive orders while Congress was out of session – just to name a few. I won’t even get into the sacrilege that he brought to the White House with the garbage of Monica Lewinsky.

I say, as in the article by Dan Traynor (Sept. 11), that these are the views of “a gang of liberal activists” in Washington. They are a small minority of the Democrats, but unfortunately they are swaying the entire party. I am convinced that none other than Clinton is behind the scenes pulling the strings and helping them dig up dirt on well qualified people like the soon-to-be Judge Roberts, FEMA, our president and commander-in-chief.

It is time for thinking, mature Americans to see through this childish behavior and vote out of office those who would stoop to such tactics!

3. Hey Pam - ever heard of Richard Mellon-Scaife? How about

the "Arkansas Project"? Scaife began digging up dirt and slinging mud at Clinton before he even declared his candidacy for President.

If you knew anything about reality, you'd know that digging up dirt and mud-slinging pre-dates Clinton by a great deal. Take a look at the Nixon administration for great examples.

I'm not sure exactly how you arrive at the conclusion that someone who has been a judge for a mere 3 years and spent his adult-life preceding that pandering to conservative causes is "well-qualified," but your bias is showing once again.

Digging up dirt on FEMA? It doesn't take any digging to find that the head of FEMA had no qualifications whatsoever to run the agency. His prior experience was in the field of show horses. Maybe you can figure out the connection between that and emergency management, but most people would have a hard time figure out how his prior experience qualifies him to head up the nations premier agency dealing with response to emergency situations.
