Hurrice Rita: Forget the prayers for now, folks |
|
Now is the time to ACT. Donate blood TODAY. Rally your friends to provide donations TODAY. If you have money tied up somehow, get some of it out, it WILL be needed. Do you have friends or family in the way? Do they have pets that will need shelter? And don't forget about yourself! Fuel prices WILL increase after this: arrange a carpool today! Lock in your natural gas and/or heating fuel rates TODAY! Winterize your home before the prices go up! There will be plenty of time for prayer later, people, but today needs to be a day of action!

1. Don't get too crazy though, yeah? Remember Katrina. |
|
The people in Louisiana still need a lot more help than any of us in South Florida. Rita has already blown by most of us on the Southeast coast. Key West could get hit pretty bad, but it's still only a Cat-1 hurricane. Definitely donate blood -- it'll go where it's needed -- but when this is all over, we'll be fine here in Florida, I'll wager.
Of course, who knows what may happen to Texas...

3. My concern is for Texas, and Louisiana |
|
Resources have been badly stretched for Katrina. I fear that, if Rita is particularly bad, Texas will really be in trouble. And given how warm the south gulf is...

7. Yeah, the Texas coast in a day or two could be really nasty... |
|
All depends what happens in the Gulf. It's been surprising how slowly the storm has been gathering steam, though -- it was supposed to be a Cat-2 by now, according to al the local newscasts. So, maybe we'll get lucky. Still, this is certainly a time to prepare, especially if you're in Texas. As for me, they even made me come in to work today, the slavedrivers! ;)

I'll take one pair of working hands over a thousand pairs of praying hands any day.

4. I'm Too Lazy, Much Easier To Pretend I'm Doing Something By Praying |

6. It's a 1 right now, and almost on top of the keys |
|
The big concern should be for the Texas coast however.

13. we're 30 miles past the evac zone for cat 4. Getting water, |
|
food, batt.op radio, flashlights, etc. together. Luckily we're on very high ground w/ a bayou behind us that can catch a lot of water.
