1. Catholic Charities unfortunately |
|
I regret it. I wish I had not given them any money. The only place I am glad I sent money to is the Indians in the region that have never even been mentioned at all for the most part.
I've given up on the Church 100% I've decided as I just discovered that this defrocked Monsignor is someone I know of and I found out he embezzled a bunch of money from the Church. So forget them forever is what I say now. NO MORE OK!
In the meantime, there is no place you can give money or aid to knowing it will go to actually help someone. I'd say you'd have to personally know someone affected is sort of how I think now, sans the Indian tribes in the area.
The whole thing sickens me. I want to help but the idea of lining the pockets of a bunch of fundie perverts makes me awfully ill. :puke:
Best of luck finding an answer better than mine.

2. I sent my donation to Veterans for Peace; their boots |

were firmly planted in LA shortly after Katrina hit. I think Habitat For Humanity would also be a worthy cause,

According to the way the Red Cross is chartered around the world, the head of state is the head of each country's Red Cross. Ergo...

4. Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army, Second Harvest food banks... |
|
Humane Society, ASPCA, Noah's Wish, Petfinder.com
These all seem to be doing a good job.

5. I never donate to organizations. Never. |
|
They always, no matter who they are, waste the money.
I believe in helping people by actually helping them - find a katrina victim and buy their kid school supplies or give them sheets or hire them even though they aren't experienced in your area of work. Something like that actually benefits people.
I also think those folks who make 50 million dollars per movie or $750,000 per year should bear the brunt of the burden, like say Travolta bringing in supplies on his plane. Or the rich guy who helped whose name we don't even know ... Now THAT'S true charity.

6. I'm pissed I donated to RC and I am completely low on cash. |
|
I also donated for the animals to the Humane Society. I hope that was the best place. It's frustrating that you can't feel your money is going directly to the people in the case of the RC.

7. Don't let the Red Cross be diminished & sunk in a bathtub. Remember |
|
that they are the ones who go in and check on prisoners - all over the world.
