(I wrote them concerned about the 200 detainees on hunger strikes, and the force feedings. I included their emails (Gitmo PR) should anyone else want to write.)

Dear XXXX As a compassionate American, we appreciate your concern for those in our care. Joint Task Force Guantanamo is charged with housing and caring for individuals who are terrorists or suspected of assisting terrorists. Many have been trained to use any means available to garner media attention to sway public opinion. Fasting is a common tactic to accomplish this end. Despite the actions of the individuals, our medical professionals will continue to keep those fasting in good health. No detainee is in deteriorating health and nobody is in any danger of dying. There is absolutely no torture or abuse at Guantanamo Bay and any allegations are thoroughly investigated. The JTF mission is very professional and composed of some of the best Soldiers and Sailors in the military service who work hard everyday to care for those who would do all Americans harm. These proud service members carry on daily despite the allegations from people and organizations who have not visited here. Major Jeff Weir Deputy Public Affairs Officer JTF-GTMO

Thank you very much for your prompt and courteous response to my letter. However, as I'm sure you can appreciate, the military and the current administration have some credibility problems, particularly when it comes to their assurances of humane treatment of prisoners of war.
Could you please furnish me with a comprehensive list of each prisoner currently in custody at Guantanamo, along with all evidence you rely upon to determine that each person is a terrorist or what evidence you have that each person is suspected of assisting terrorists, including the name and last known whereabouts of those terrorists so assisted?
Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this request.
Sincerely,
|

You are not even good Soldiers and Sailors, let alone "some of the best" in the military. As proven by your involvement in violations of enumerated human rights dating back to 1215 with the Magna Carta and since further codified by most humane societies and governments. Nuremberg established that inhumane acts are the responsibility of those committing or ordering them, and that following orders from above is no defense. You may believe that the current US Administration can protect you but they may yet be held accountable for their own crimes, and unable to cover for those that followed their illegal and inhumane orders.
