Just heard on CBS radio news, they are already talking if Rita hits Houston or any part of the gulf, oil prices will rise. So we will have fuel prices skyrocket again.

Have my brand new, 100mpg motorcycle/scooter, all ready and licensed. Have thirty gallons of gas on hand, my heating fuel price locked in for winter, and my garden harvest is coming in.
Next year, external woodstove, and possibly a wind turbine and solar panels. Depends on how a few things work out.
Within five years I plan on being pretty energy self sufficient. Make my own biodiesel, grow my own food, generate my own electric, use my own dead trees to heat. This is the culmination of a twelve year plan that I've put lots of thought into. The only thing I will need gas for is small engines, lawn mower, chainsaw, etc.

But I keep getting stymied on where to start.
Would love to see your plan and get a reading list from you.
