O'Reilly: Air America about to Fold
Edited on Tue Sep-20-05 02:55 PM by jzodda
Heard him say this on the radio just now. Is this true? I have not listened much of late because in the summer I do not spend much time listening to the radio but is there any truth to what he is saying?

Air America ia pretty good radio, would hate to see it go before my winter radio listening spree. So does anybody know if there is any truth to what he said?

thanks

EDIT: Thanks for all the info guys! A new Studio + ratings going up. So I have to chalk it up to either hatred of Frankin or worries over his own ratings. Its great to be able to come here and get the truth and get it so fast too! :)

business, with Thom Hartmann being signed to be their first personality.

43. On Franken about two months ago it was said that AA
would be operating in the black in about another year. Remarkable for a start up. That includes the so-called 'loan' from the Boys and Girls club that the former owner absconded with. They are adding about three to four new outlets per month.
O'Lielly adds about 3 to 4 new lies per hour. BTW Franken is kicking O'Lielly's ass in NYC last I heard. That could be the reason for the 'rumors. O'Lielly and Hannity have predicted AA's demise since the day it signed on. So wht would you believe ANYTHING you hear on FOX?

57. He's not only a new host, he's the new host at the head of a new company —
Air America Syndication.

http://www.radioink.com/HeadlineEntry.asp?hid=130402&pt=todaysnews

Air America Radio has formed Air America Syndication, a separate division designed to offer additional programming and services to both Progressive Talk and other talk/music formats. The announcement was made by CEO Danny Goldberg, president of Air America Radio Gary Krantz and president of Programming Jon Sinton.

Air America Syndication will distribute the nationally-syndicated, The Thom Hartmann Program, and will expand its weekend network line-up of progressive talk beginning this Sunday (September 11).

“Thom Hartmann is one of the great progressive minds and we are thrilled to help expand his role in the American conversation,” said Goldberg.

“Thom Hartmann has shown enormous success in many markets around the country, from Seattle to Pittsburgh,” said Krantz. “We are thrilled to have Thom be a part of Air America’s unmatched line-up of talent and are looking forward to helping him grow in affiliations, audience, revenue, and most importantly, as an important progressive voice in the media landscape.”

He's very well read, astute, and is wonderfully skilled at skewering RW freaks. He's based out of Portland now, but used to live in Vermont. He's a regular host on the Portland Air America station, and you can stream his program at www.whiterosesociety.org. He's also written a few books.

I've heard him fill in a few times for Randi, and he was THE SHIT! And same with Mike Malloy. (HER AAR, WILL YA GET A STATION IN THE OKEECHOBEE AREA!!!!!!!) AAR I think will do JUST FINE, being in most major markets, and having a combo of celebs new to radio (Franken, Jeanane, Jerry, etc.) along with the radio pros (Randi!!!!!!, Thom, Mike, Laura, etc.) so the more the celebs new to radio get broken in (HEY AL, YOU ARE NOT ON TV! IXNAY ON THE ITSKAYS PLEASE!) then it'll hammer it home, right up Bill O'LIEly's FAT ASS!!!!!!!!!!!

My father loves to play the georgia lottery(We live in alabama,he's a fellow dem and I couldn't even print on THIS board how he feels about some repubs) and I told him that if he does and the amount is enough,I want to start an AM radio station and call Al Franken(or whoever) and get air america programming.

We live in North Alabama so maybe we can at a tower to at least cover the whole area and maybe even in to north georgia and chattanooga.

Wishful thinking but who knows????

that a whole lot of new listeners start tuning in so they can be listening when AAR announces they are closing their doors.

Thus, AAR gets higher ratings.

So does Bill work for AAR secretly maybe?

Bill O'LIEly clocks in at 0.2 in the West Palm market on a 50,000 WATT STATION, meanwhile RANDI RHODES is STILL at NUMERO UNO with an 11 SHARE on a 10,000 watt pee-shooter signal in the same town! Oh yeah, and side note, oxyRUSHitler Limpdick is still in 22nd place!

Now Billypoo, I know yer reading this, asshole, and, guess what?! Air America has lost exactly ONE station (not counting the infiltration set-up to kick them out of LA and Chicago, which they have sinced gained back!) and that 1 station was S. Lake Tahoe, but, it doesn't matter, since A) it was a SORRY signal and B) that area is already WELL covered by their Reno station!

70 STATIONS BILL! HELLO! And, in most major markets! NYC, LA, Chicago, San Fran, Miami, DC, Dallas, Philly, Boston, Atlanta, Denver, San Deigo, Detroit, Cleveland, Cincy, Minn/St. Paul, Phoenix, Seattle, and on and on! 70 STATIONS, they build up FROM NOTHING! Eat shit Bill!

Hey Bill, while yer at it:

61. My prediction.
I predict AAR will last at least through 2008, because regardless of profits, Democratic donors will keep it going through the next presidential election.

But if a Republican "wins" the next presidential election, then donors won't be eager to put more money into AAR, and unless it's profitable at that time, it will fold.

62. Just sent this to Randi, let's see if she'll address it tomorrow.
O'Leilly has been reporting the demise of AAR since it's inception. He wishes it would fold. They just added Thom Hartman to their line-up and I think I heard Randi mention they have spiffy new offices. Doesn't sound like their folding, Bighead Bill.

63. AAR is doing great and will continue to grow & grow...How could it not?
Edited on Tue Sep-20-05 05:51 PM by Zinfandel
There are tens of millions of liberals, progressives, democrats, greens, independents, moderates and even some republicans, who want AAR and will love Air America Radio once they are turned on to it...And many just can't wait to get an affiliate in their area...

Yes, indeed support AAR!!! www.airamericaradio.com

64. If AAR does go off the air, we should pay Bill a visit.
I mean, we'll have nothing better to do with our pent up aggressions, no?

67. That slime ball has been saying that for months,
I believe they have actually expanded to more states. I know the number of stations has gone up.

O'lielly hates Franken with a passion and dreams of the station going under. He actually thinks,if he keeps saying it, people will believe it. Kind of like the game Bush plays on people.

Repeat, Repeat, Repeat......

I remember the RW saying liberal radio would never work.....WRONG..people call up all the time and say they are so thankful for Air America...so that they don't have to listen to Limbaugh anymore.

Try to listen when you can, also, KGO, Bernie Ward, you will be hooked. I love it!!
