Question from a newb :)
Edited on Tue Sep-20-05 05:24 PM by hiaasenrocks
I've seen some posts where DUers are encouraged to go to a certain poll and vote, so we get the result we want and shut down the RWers/Freepers. So I'm wondering, is it okay to encourage some DU members to "take over" a message board that is populated by conservatives? It's a college sports website that has a separate board for general discussion, and this is where political discussions are held. RW idiots outnumber liberals there by about 10:1, and it would be hilarious to see them put in their place by DUers (even if the DU as the source of the "invasion" were kept secret). And I'm not just talking about responding to their posts, I would hope to see entire threads started. Thanks for any input and I'm sorry if this post is a waste of time. :)

EDIT: By the way, it's a FREE site.

1. hmmmm.... I don't really like that sort of thing....
but that's just me. Don't like "DUing polls" either. But you're free to "encourage" people here to do whatever you like along those lines. People are free to respond as they like.

9. You know, the whole "DU this poll" thing is not sinister.
As I see it, no one here goes to those polls and votes more than once. I'd feel sad if an DUer actually had that much time on their hands that they'd clear their cache and revote. I see DUing a poll as someone simply making us aware of a poll so that we can vote, fair and square. If our opinion, as we record it on those polls, is our true opinion, and we vote once.. then what would be problem be with "DUing" it? There has never been an instance where someone here has encouraged anyone to vote in unethical ways.

10. I agree.
If I participate in DUing a poll, I vote once. Voting more than once strikes me as kind of stupid, and a real waste of time.

3. I don't see any problem at all with this. We are free to...
access it as well as they are. There's nothing unethical about it.

By the way, welcome to DU! :)

5. when the truth is told
some people actually learn something. I don't see anything wrong with DUers going to other sites to help shed some light on the issues.

BTW, I was attracted to this thread because I think Hiaasen rocks too!

7. Welcome to DU!
Hey, I'm all in favor of overrunning 'em. Don't care anymore. Fuck 'em. They'd do it to us, and worse, because they believe in fighting dirty. Fuck 'em. And if we skew the results, the better to fuck with their heads.

Sorry - I'm just NOT in the mood to make nice-nice anymore.

Besides, one of the names I have for the republi-CON party is the Body-Snatcher Party (especially since that's what their anti-choice division wishes to do to all women of childbearing age). So... seems to me it's time WE showed some muscle and overran them for a change. See how they like it.

Just the ravings of a crazy mama...

Glad you're here, BTW!

8. Here's the link!
When you go to this page choose "The Lounge" and then you'll have to register for a handle. Again, it's free. At the moment there are a few political threads going on but it would be nice to see some more started. Thanks to all who want to have some fun with this.
