If you click "remains controversial", they for some reason have a link to Free Republic as an example of the controversy...or something.

Some background: Slashdot is a huge major site for computer geeks. I think it may have been named that because "/." is the root directory of a Unix or Linux machine, and like, Slashdot is supposed to be the site you keep coming back to as the root of computer geek news or something.

1. global warming brings out the RW trolls on Slashdot
I suspect these folks are coordinated, come out whenever a news story is posted (or post it themselves) then flood the site with anti-global warming posts.

Astroturfing.
