FORT HOOD, Texas, Sept 20 (Reuters) - The military judge in the trial
of Lynndie England, shown holding an Iraqi inmate on a leash in the
Abu Ghraib prison abuse scandal, expressed skepticism on Tuesday about
the defense argument that she was too compliant toward authority.

"You are painting a picture of a woman who cannot think for herself in
almost all circumstances," Judge Col. James Pohl told lead defense
lawyer Capt. Jonathan Crisp.

"She does have to look to the authority figures around her and glean
what to do," said Crisp.

England's trial starts on Wednesday with the selection of the
military jury, to be followed by opening arguments in a case expected
to conclude by the end of next week.

Is Lynndie England one of the biggest fools since GWB? Possibly.
Is she a scapegoat for the misdeeds of her superiors? Absolutely.
Is she too dumb and docile to know right from wrong?
Give me a break!

She did some evil things at Abu Ghraib with great gusto.
I don't think the just-following-orders-becuase-I-am-an-idiot
defense will save her.

1. Let me get this straight
You disobey an officer and go to the brig, or you follow the others and you are a team player. Gee I don't know what to do.

2. small potatoes. When you have a PRESIDENT who asks for a legal
re-definition of "torture", there is your root cause.

You can fry up the small potatoes if you want, but I'm after the plantation owner.

besides, why do some dump on the only woman charged, and not the men doing the same or worse? yes, she should be dumped on, but NOT as a scapegoat to absolve all the criminals with penises.

IMHO
