PHOTO: "This is coffee."
Edited on Tue Sep-20-05 10:24 PM by Bluebear

"Some people don't have servants to bring their beverages. Remember when your mommy rang her little silver plated dinner bell for her coffee refill? Well, this is coffee. It comes in a can, and hard working Americans--not the hard work YOU talk about, but really hard work-- take coffee from that can and put it in something called a coffeemaker so they can start their day. Five, six days a week, with no vacation! Imagine! And if they happen to go on a bender on Friday night after working at the plant all week, they have to actually get up the next day and make the stuff. Not like you pretty Bush boys after a night of getting zonked when you can have Winslow bring a cuppa to your room. Anyhow, you add water to the machine and it drips into the carafe....how can I describe it...picture the pensions and workers rights you are robbing working Americans out of every day kind of dribbling into a glass pot, drip drip drip. Oh, oh, oh, better one! Think about the evidence mounting against you and your cronies leaking out bit by bit, drip drip drip drip....make sense? Hey, why you sweating? You're not doing anything..."

Wouldn't the servants in Yale's Eating Clubs have taken care of that for him?

maybe a year at most. I use them as cannisters once they are empty. They also make great cookie jars.

2. I Thought They Were Homemade Piggy Banks
Gee, I thought the coffee cannisters had already been emptied of their contents so B*** could start saving for all the programs he's got going. Here's a nickel for Iraq. There's a dime for Mississippi, guess I'll put the quarter in for Louisiana. Uh, that leaves only a penny for Medicaid health care--but we can always count on those private sector guys to kick in for the GOP.

7. This reminds me of the time that Bush Senior
went into a supermarket and beheld his first SCANNER, and had to be shown how it worked several times as he was fascinated. Then he couldn't imagine what the price of a gallon of milk or juice or whatever it was that was scanned. Quite out of touch with his fellow americans.

47. Here is the dialog Hoffmania added to it. Great post, Bluebear!

What's in there?
That would be coffee.
And that?
That's also coffee.
What's in that one?
Coffee, sir.
And that?
Still coffee.
And what's in that?
That'd be coffee.
What's in that one?
Coffee.
Okay, but I bet there's a puppy in that one.
No sir. Coffee.
Wow. What's in that one?
Coffee.
Is that one filled with candy?
No, sir. That's coffee.
And what's in the red one?
That's coffee.

14. Is that FOLGER's coffee???
OK, showing my age here, again...

I remember, years back, when FOLGERS was one of the companies that was doing business with IDI AMIN (known as the BUTCHER OF UGANDA at the time) after the rest of the world turned their back on him. They caught some shit for it, but it did not go over the radar until a bunch of comedians at NBC took them to task.

SNL, the Daily Show of the day at that time, did a skit where they parodied a FOLGERS commercial and commented that the reason it tasted so good is because the roots were fertilized with the blood of slain Ugandans...

At the time, Folgers had a faux spokeswoman, a very grandmotherly type, (Mrs. Olsen? Jensen? Seemed to be Scandanavian to me???) who would make the coffee in her apron. The parody was a brutal hoot.

Wish I could remember more about it, it was so long ago...

Hell, when I last saw Folger's ads with Mrs. Olson, she was an old biddy. Now she don't look half bad!

Which means if I go and watch The Wizard Of Oz right now, Glinda The Witch Of The North will look like a young whippersnapper ...

Get my Geritol honey, I'm feeling a little peaked!

Folgers is post-Katrina sludge scraped off the sidewalks of New Orleans, freeze-dried and canned. Real coffee comes in bean form and you grind it just before use. (/coffee snobbery)
