Wow. Another brilliantly timed, convenient disaster for Cheney and Co.
Rita and Katrina sure did whip up to a Category four/five awfully fast.

I sure would love to hear a scientists perspective on how frequently that happens, and how likely that is to happen with two hurricanes so close together in proximity and in time.

Gee, sure is a coinky dink.

Just another lucky strike for the Bush Administration?

The best is yet to come. Wait until the polar thermohaline conveyor is disrupted.

2. There's no conspiracy here
Wind speed determines hurrican classification on the Safir Simpson scale, not "luck."

This whole post is ridiculous.

Give me a break. It is this kind of BS that gives DU a bad name.

4. Gulf waters are warmer
than normal this year, by about 2 degrees. Doesn't sound like much, but it can make a big difference in the severity of storms that cross it.

5. Wake Up bud. Not only have hurricanes increased - but they now
happen to Brazil -which used to be almost non-existent. Called the water temperature is rising and hot water is what makes hurricanes. Water off Nova Scotia & Africa is hotter than normal and has been rise a few degrees over years.

Take a few steps back. If you are serious. If you are joking - take a hundred steps back....little more... little more...just a few more backward steps.

6. Global warming
That was happening long before this clown got into office, but it would be nice to have an administration that acknowledged the existence of the problem.

7. Halliburton's corporate office is in Dallas
I wonder if their stock will go up like the price of gas. The greatest of ironies would be for the government to pay them for repairing/replacing their own assets.
