British troops freed in Iraq appear nervous on TV
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/GEO053789.htm

BASRA, Iraq, Sept 20 (Reuters) - Two undercover soldiers freed in Basra in a British raid appeared nervous in television footage of their detention which showed wigs, Arab headdresses and weapons apparently used in their mission.

The tired, unshaven pair were shown seated beside the disguises, an anti-tank missile, other weapons and communications equipment in Iraqi state television footage.

One of the soldiers, who appeared to be in his thirties, had spots of blood on his white T-shirt. At one point his comrade, wearing a blue T-shirt, put on one of the thick black wigs and a headdress lying on a table, apparently at the instruction of a policeman who joked that he was a Shi'ite descendent of Islam's Prophet Mohammad.

Images of the soldiers could hurt British efforts to maintain a low-profile approach to security in Basra, unlike their American allies, who Iraqis complain have fuelled resentment in other parts of the country with heavy-handed tactics.

2. Iraqis will blame any future assignations, or acts of terrorism...
...on the British. And for good reason too. I doubt they will be fooled again. The games are over.

3. So is the Britain's 'Iran/Contra Moment'? Is the comparable to the
wreckage of a helicopter? Will this lead to further disclosures?

Inquiring minds want to know.

All our media outlets are now parroting the same spin. They're desperately covering up for those early reports about those SAS being dressed as Arabs, carrying explosives. Their focus is now on that "daring rescue mission", and "how dare the Iraqis try and arrest our boys" rhetoric". They've also been claiming since yesterday about how "Shiite insurgents" have infiltrated the Iraqi police.

The coverage is absolutely criminal. Us Brits need to keep up the pressure on this issue, we need to keep contacting the media with questions, and we need to all contact our MPs as well to get them to raise this issue in parliament. Here's the link to find and contact your MP (for fellow Brits), don't allow the Mod to spin this into some sort of "coalition victory":
