FOR EVERYONE GOING TO DC
You guys be careful, okay? I used to go to these things back when I was in college. I went to the U of Del so we were very near DC and hit all the big ones protesting Viet Nam. Very exciting and sometimes kind of scary.

Take comfortable shoes! A hat with a visor. Sunscreen! (didn't have that back then) Lots of water! Trail mix or something for your blood sugar if you forget to eat. A couple of big black garbage bags or a cheap plastic poncho in case it rains.

Make sure you have your ID and stuff in case you get arrested. Those fanny packs work well or a backpack and keep your hands free for your signs.

Get together with your friends and set up your cell phones with each others' numbers in case you get separated.

And a biggie: don't alter your state of consciousness. You don't want to miss it even for a buzz. And puking all night after a rally isn't fun. (yeah, I did it)

Do I sound like a worried grannie?! I am. I will be watching C-span and the MSM all day. Hopefully I can find somebody live-blogging.

Go out there and show the country that America is waking up.

1. I would add: remember that you are patriots.
No matter what gets hurled at you, no matter how despicably you are treated, you are patriots.

You are excercising your right to dissent, to protest, to gather peaceably.

and, for every one of you there, there are 500 who could not make it. You are representing them, and they are grateful.

They will be sending in stories, photos, and maybe even some video.

Good advice, BTW.

Everybody is a representing all of us, please don't forget that. I am sure you will be sorely provoked, but think Gandhi.

Thanks you guys for going. I sure wish I was there with you in person, I will definitely be there in spirit (sounds lame). If you have the chance to go to the wall, tell my buddies what you're doing for them & us. They'll hear you.

5. I am so excited, and I can't wait to meet everyone
Having been to a couple of these before in DC, I can say with confidence that the odds of getting arrested at the permitted events is very, very low.

For people who wish to step it up a notch and patricipate in organized, peaceful, mass civil disobedience on Monday the 26th(which could lead to arrest) see this link:

http://www.unitedforpeace.org/article.php?id=3101

If you are planning on being in DC on Monday the 26th but don't want to get arrested, see the above link anyway because most of the events are permitted and the more the merrier!

And there is plenty of time for altering consciousness afterwards :P

:patriot:
