Faux Starting "to-Whoopi" (Swiftbot) Bette MIDLER for Shrub/Coke Joke
(I only flipped by Faux for a moment, O.K.? Was comparing Rita positions.)

The trio of excrement, "Faux & Friends" -- the wingnut weatherman-turned-host Steve DOOCY and that bomb-Korea-person E.D.HILL were aghast, disgusted over a clip of Bette from the Madison Square Garden fundraiser for NOLA. Bette was shown on the stage saying, "George BUSH is a big fan of mine. He went to one of my concerts in the '70s. His coke dealer gave him tickets."

Ohhhh, Steve and E.D. (sorry THE REAL Steve and Edie) were JUST upset!

Faux and the rest of the wingnut line-up did a big swiftbotting of Whoopi at the KERRY fundraiser during Campaign'04 and Faux Beltway Bozo KONDRACKE is STILL repeating the canard that Whoopi made dirty jokes about Shrub there. She has said on The View she did NOT do so at that event, only in her nightclub act, and that she was left twisting in the wind by Dems who didn't stand with her.

6. I can almost predict what the Devine Miss M would say about this:
"Fuck 'em if they can't take a joke!"

I'm sure Bette Midler doesn't give a holy shit what the folks on Fux News think of her.

13. Aw, Love Bug!
You beat me to the punch!
Now I'm remembering the first time I saw the Divine Miss M in person. It was in New Orleans at the Municipal Auditorium in the early 1970's. She made a joke something along the lines of: "Last time I was here, there was no sports stadium (referring to the Superdome). This time I'm here and there STILL ain't no sports stadium."
Ah, fuck. I just remembered the third time I saw her was around 1993 in the Superdome.
Flash forward to October, 2004. I see her "Kiss My Brass" tour for the second time in the Atlanta area. (I told my gf that this was probably the only time I'd ever see Bette twice in the same decade.:))
She made some Bush jokes; you could tell she was pro-Kerry.
When she sang "From a Distance" I started bawling. If you guys are familiar with the song, you'll understand.
This wonderfully talented, brilliant lady is a living legend,IMO, a true national treasure.
Thank God for Bette.

17. Bette was very emotional about everything when we saw her last year
She was talking about the mood and direction of the country and broke down onstage; then she sang "The Rose," and let the audience pick up and sing the last part to her. Lovely. (I've forgiven her for not coming to my wedding.) :)

24. oh, she cares

They're abyssmal fools to try throw dirt at her, though. Picking a fight of nasty quips and comebacks with a sassy elderly Jewish celebrity has a way of ending rather like a fight with a bunch of Dobermans.

14. They Also Took a Slap at GORE over Global Warming
DOUCHEBAG, because he's SUCH a weatherman/authority, repeated what AccuWeather's Joe BASTARDI started saying yesterday, that the hyper-hurricanes right now have NOTHING to do with global warming, that it's all about 30 year cycles of intense/less-intense hurricanes and we are just starting an intense cycle.

So then they played a clip of GORE saying, "I'd like to have that conversation..."

And the E.D./horrendous-slut said sarcastically, "Yeah, well, we'll have that conversation LATER, O.K.?"

15. Santorum's Accuweather??? (LINK) Right wing weather?
http://rawstory.com/exclusives/byrne/santorum_weather_ban_accuweather_421.htm

A conservative Republican senator who proposed that federal meteorologists be forbidden from competing with companies such as AccuWeather and the Weather Channel, has received nearly $4,000 from AccuWeather's founder and executive vice president since 2000, RAW STORY has discovered.

Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) introduced the bill last week. The senator's supporters (among them the founder and executive vice president of AccuWeather) note the bill provides an exemption that would allow organizations the National Hurricane Center from alerting the public to hazards.

9. There was a female singer who was suppose to perform on Hermosa Bch.
Edited on Wed Sep-21-05 09:11 AM by The Backlash Cometh
She was sent away because she said negative things about Bush. The senior leaders in charge canceled her performance. I asked one of these seniors if Hermosa Beach was Republican. He looked surprised and said, "No, but she criticized OUR president and we're not going to allow anyone in here who is against our president and country."

My reply was simple: "Boy, are you in for a major disappointment."

This was three months before NOLA.

16. Do You Think We Could Get Fox News Watchers To Think That.......
Fox News is an HBO Series and a parody of news shows. How cool would that be?

I still think we need to paint * supporters as stupid for supporting *. We can also call them stupid for watching Fox. Human nature is that people don't like to be made to look stupid. If we ram it home as much as possible - we might make a dent.

Bette has been telling this joke in her concerts for quite a while now. If fact, she tells a lot of * jokes.

Always gets a great reaction from her audience.

It only bothers * supporters because every funny joke is grounded in truth.

There are two things that the idiots over at Fox News don't seem to know about Ms Midler:

1. Some of Bette's most loyal fans just happen to be Gays - the same population that they and their main viewers have been ostracizing these past years; this will give them yet another reason to despise them.

2. Someone should show them the archives of Yahoo!'s "Official Bette Midler Message Board" (a site that was set up back in '99 as part of the promotion for her "Divine Millennium" concert tour, and stayed pretty active for several years afterward.) Since there were no "enforced civility" rules on that board, when a disagreement broke out, things sometimes got rather ugly. Thanks to this sort of exposure, there are a number of us fans that can fire back with equal or more venom.

For an example of what they should expect, just take a look at today's entry on bootlegbetty.com...

Addendum: I just got today's e-mail feed from the Yahoo! site - it looks like the war has begun!

DAMN!!! I wish the site itself was not blocked at my work site - I would love to engage in some 50 megaton verbal fireback...:nuke:
