Ideas for street theater, for the march
Although it probably is a little late to organize any groups for the march...maybe they will work for later. anyway, I was thinking about the Billionaires for Bush group, and their antics, and how sometimes street theater can say more than just holding a sign, and I came up with a couple ideas for groups:

101st Fighting Keyboardists-everyone in military fatigues, with a keyboard slung instead of a rifle. Carry signs like "I'll enlist next time...Promise!, "I've got a job to do-that's why I didn't enlist", "I support our troops-so long as I'm not one", etc.

Marching Morans-everyone dresses like the Moran (shorts/t-shirt/do-rag/sunglasses/dumb look), and carries signs like "Goe USA", "Libarels are stupud" "Kerry is a looser", "Bush is hugh", etc.

May be a good way to poke fun at our opponents.

2. Sounds like fun..
but what will achieve by poking fun at your opponents? Do you think that will encourage any of them to stop, look, listen, ponder what the war is doing?

What is our ultimate objective? Do we want to get out of the war? Or just rub their faces in it?

4. It shows them for what they are
For example, there's a groups of people on the internet that claim to support the war very strongly, and belittle anyone who doesn't, and yet somehow manage to find a way not to enlist. Making fun of them will shine a light on their claims that simply yelling at them can't do. It may not encourage the chickenhawks themselves to stop and think, but it could make people who have the gut reflex to listen to them wake up.

5. Okay, I get you
and I agree that chickenhawks might respond to shaming.

But when you make fun of their spelling and stuff like that...

well, kind of "classism," you know? So we need to make fun of their politics but not their cultural group? A reverse example: if you had mocking signs in "ebonics" would that be considered racism?

Am I making sense?

6. Ever see this guy?

DU seems to collect trolls like this guy. they like to come on and do hit and run posts, and say things like "You Lieberals are loosers!!! I'm series!!!!" Etc. etc. They love to rant and call names, and they are very easy to spot, because for some reason they always seem to be unable to spell. It's less about the spelling than childish behavior-it's just that the spelling is a common factor.

So no, this isn't even remotely the same thing as making fun of ebonics. Perhaps since you're new here you haven't seen one of the Freeper trolls yet. If not, you will eventually.

7. I've seen the picture
but haven't been "lucky" enough to witness a freeper raid first hand! So I'll take your word for it.

I guess my point of view comes from talking to red state kids (I'm a middle school teacher) and colleagues who say "I'll never vote Democrat, they all think we're dumb rednecks."

But you know what? One of the reasons for a mass demo is unity and to get together and have a good time, and if the signs are kind of inside jokes for DU'ers, well, go for it!

And stay safe. And take pictures!
