Video: (Bill Maher) bashes the Bush administration's relief efforts...
on The Situation with Tucker Carlson.

Check it out it is pretty good. You need to use Internet Explorer to see the video.

(snip)

MAHER: Right. Well, I mean, Bill Clinton was a charming guy too, and I seem to remember you going after him a lot more than you’ve gone after George Bush.

And doesn’t Bill Clinton look a little better these days?

CARLSON: He looks worse.

MAHER: Don’t you feel a little silly? Bill Clinton looks worse?

CARLSON: You have got to be kidding. Clinton comes out the other day and says, A, you shouldn’t have gone into Iraq. Wait a second, he was for Iraq. He and his wife both supported the war. Now they’re second guessing it ...

MAHER: They didn’t support the war. Excuse me. They supported a resolution that said as a last resort, we are going to give you, Sheriff George Bush, a badge and a gun. That’s not saying we want you to go in there blasting at the first sign of trouble.

But we’re just talking about the hurricane. You can’t really deny that under Clinton, FEMA was in a much better situation, that he didn’t appoint somebody’s college roommate, and this is after 9/11, to head up the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

I understand that all politicians appoint their cronies to certain positions, but this isn’t the ambassadorship to San Marino or Liechtenstein. It’s the Federal Emergency Management Agency. You don’t think that’s a smoking gun for George Bush’s administration?

CARLSON: I think it’s totally negligent. I mean, some guy, who was, the Arabian horse breeder lobbyist, absolutely. But my question still, I think there’s blame to go around.

Why during the Clinton years weren’t those levees shored up? I don’t know. What else was FEMA doing? You know what I mean. There were no major emergencies. There weren’t you know, major emergencies like this.

MAHER: It’s not FEMA’s job to shore up the levees. It’s FEMA’s job when the hurricane hits, as you well know. But, you know, that is local politics, and as I said, they deserve a lot of blame too.

CARLSON: Almost aesthetic level, aren’t you repulsed by Clinton’s never ending self-righteousness? The other day, over the weekend, he says essentially, I would have done a better job responding to Katrina because I am a better person, great guy, look at me, great administration. Doesn’t the constant bragging make you want to throw up?

MAHER: You know what makes me want to throw up, seeing dead bodies floating in New Orleans, that makes me want to throw up.

6. Yes! But Tucker was exposed as a tool quite some time ago by Jon...
...Stewart, who handed Tucker his own nutsack in a doggy bag on that Crossfire ep.

Ahh, now that was 'must see TV'! :) Good to see it confirmed though!

"In the past, Jon Stewart had shown Tucker as a pathetic tool, and as Maher goes in for the kill... YES! There it is! We have confirmation yet again, Tucker Carlson, dick and tool!"

4. I'd like to see
the thought bubbles in Tuckers mind during this interview. You know I'm repulsed by the fact Clinton was a much better president than Bush. I mean Tucker get over Clinton it's only been 4 3/4 years of GWB. You'd think he might of done something, anything to actually talk GWB up. Instead you still have to put down Clinton because that's all you have.

5. Carlson still not over Clinton. Maher's last line was perfect.
It says a lot about the RW freaks that Clinton still drives them absolutely bonkers:

"CARLSON: Almost aesthetic level, aren’t you repulsed by Clinton’s never ending self-righteousness? The other day, over the weekend, he says essentially, I would have done a better job responding to Katrina because I am a better person, great guy, look at me, great administration. Doesn’t the constant bragging make you want to throw up?"

He sounds positively jealous, and I find that endlessly creepy.

Maher's response was spot on.

Their pathological hatred / envy of Clinton makes them blind to everything else and they can't help but comment on him ALL THE TIME - still.
Everything is a grudge match, a petty tit-for-tat.

Never mind, THEIR cult of personality president is taking ALL of us to hell in a handbasket.
I can't believe these are the morons running our country.

10. They Just Can't Get Off The Clennis
How they revise history or distort reality. Yep, Bowtie Boy remain oblivious in the Beltway Bubbleworld. He has no clue of the suffering going on outside his bubble...the pain and misery millions have and are suffering and the millions more who now are very awake and alert to the lies and games the booosh regime, and it's proxies like Bowtie Boy represent.

Mahrer did an excellent job staying on point...but still Carlson just can't get off the script for a moment and show some decency. In the days after Katrina, a lot of these hacks were very critical of what they saw...FEMA screwing up big time. Since then, they've come back to the reservation, got the threatening memo and now are back on Clennis one note and "the blame game" as their only defenses.

BTW...It's the Corp of Engineers who were responsible for upgrading the New Orleans levee system, Tucker...and guess who cut all the funding that could have helped fortify the crumbling system and then sent that money to be squandered in Iraq? Sadly, so many others believe the same shit this scumbag does.

12. Right the army corp....
This was like part of the federal highway system and yet we didn't fund it.
I was hoping Maher would bring up Bush's suspending of the Davis Bacon act.
