is anyone else 'nervous' about this weekend?
I'm not so much worried that something is going to go wrong at the protest, but more that "they" will orchestrate some kind of "wag the dog" event to divert attention away from the protest. I hope not. But I think I will keep my proverbial seatbelt on this weekend.

2. Lovely Rita...
is on her way through the Gulf and is expected to hit Texas on Saturday. I expect the fickle MSM will cover only that and will ignore the pro-peace march in Washington. All the more reason why we in blogland need to stay on top of the march and report what those who are there are saying to reach those who can't make it...

7. I think you just answered your own question
mainstream media doesn't report on protests, stolen elections, or investigations into the administration.

19. heck, until Cindy Sheehan, protests weren't covered PERIOD.
That's why her role has been so pivotal

4. If the protest goes well, they just won't cover it (at least not well)...
And if "violence breaks out" as it often does when provocators initiate it (hmmm...), then they will cover it.

Whatever happens, we know they will cut the number of protestors in half, and then divide by ten, and then take the square root.

13. When the permit was issued
it resulted in a crawler on either CNN or MSNBC. My daughter pointed it out. Hope the actual event draws more attention. Okay, so I was born with rose-colored glassed permanently attached.

12. Well, can't control the weather.
I hope I can make it to the protest - just be aware that Rita is going to be hitting Friday or so and that the media and some of the news jukies here will be distracted by it. I hope it goes well though :D

20. I live in Houston
so if by "nervous" you mean "having the crap almost literally scared out of me," then yes, I feel nervous.

21. consequences of avoiding mainstream media
since the last election I have avoided the regular media. from time to time I pay the price. I knew Rita was coming but not until now did I realize how big it is. I guess the "wag the dog" scenario will not be necessary.
