Fundies think Katrina was wrath of God for NOLA ... but Rita's going to TX
Edited on Wed Sep-21-05 01:09 PM by gauguin57
Some Fundies thought Katrina was God's wrath for sinful New Orleans (parties, abortions, gays, etc)

Hmmmmm ... so, if Rita is heading toward Texas, what could God possibly be pissed off about now? Hmmm. What could it be (cue the Dana Carvey Church Lady voice) ... oh, I don't know ... could it be ... BUSH? Could it be that Bush came to the White House from Texas, and hangs out there much of the time when he's supposed to be running the country? Could it be how shabbily Cindy Sheehan was treated there?

Well, if the Fundies can see a fetus in the map of Katrina, I can see Bush's chimpy mug in the map of Rita!

4. nah - it's all of us hoe-moe cowboys here in Texas
plus the ones that came here from Looziana.

Damn sumbitch good thing after six thousand years his batteries are running low and can only work up one hurricane at a time or we'd all be in trouble.

5. Well this is fucking helpful.
This is not the time to be doing this shit. Texans, whether you believe it or not, are human beings. And they may not vote like the more *enlightened* states, but they are human beings. This shit serves no purpose.

Bush is not a Texan. He's a yankee who likes to play dress up.

God does not send storms as punishment. In fact, God doesn't send storms. This bullshit fundie mentality that God sends disasters as punishment needs to be fucking expunged. Acknowledging that mindset does nothing to help, either.

6. If it hits Houston
it CLEARLY because God is following those godless evacuees from NOLA.

Jeez...That's so evident.

:sarcasm:

If god is mad at *bush he might send a hurricane to CT!

Seriously though, I don't take hurricanes lightly having been througha few myself and I don't wish the destruction or loss of one on anyone (well, except maybe Trent Lott).

9. Katrina looked like a fetus... it was obviously the wrath of God.
Edited on Wed Sep-21-05 01:19 PM by brainshrub
Rita, looks more like a mole on Jerry Fallwells butt, so it is obviously a blessed hurricane that is bringing a much needed distraction from the BFEE incompetence.

BTW: I didn't make the fetus story up, that's what the fundies in my town were saying.

13. Of course the entire
problem with dumb thinking like this is that it's, well, dumb.

The universe doesn't work that way. Or, put it this way, surely not every single person in New Orleans deserved God's wrath? So what kind of sadistic bastard is God to punish the innocent along with the guilty? Oh, okay, I get it now.

Anyway, every time I hear some pious idiot spouting off about how god answered his/her prayers about whatever, I always want to ask "What makes you so special?" or "How do you account for God's not answering some other devout person's prayers?"

This sort of reasoning is totally irrational, and of course it's not possible for these kinds of believer to understand that.

Along the same lines, I get frustrated when well-meaning participants on this board say something like they're praying for those in the path of Katrina or Rita. Wait! Prayers DON'T alter a frigging thing. But human action does.

that god never punishes murders, rapists and pedophiles. Just abortionist and gays?

This is a bit insensitive. We have
members who live in Texas. Let's give
them some consideration.
