Jet Blue has major mechanical EMERGENCY. From Burbank to JFK.
Edited on Wed Sep-21-05 06:43 PM by Pithy Cherub
It's the wildest thing I have ever seen on an attempted landing. The jet is flying North/South but the nose gear is perpendicularly locked at East/West. It's at right angles no matter which way the nose is pointed. It's on KCAL 9 and KCBS 2.http://www.kcal.com/

It is trying to make an emergency landing in Long Beach, but first they have a full load of fuel. They are circling after it did a low approach to give a visual to the tower on the landing gear. They want to bring down slowly.

The avaiation expert is saying that ity shouldn't pose a huge problem to those on board - the expert, Barry Schiff keeps being reassuring.

On edit: In CA Flight 292

3. Anderson Cooper just showed the jet
It has been rerouted to a different airport, and Jet Blue is going to try to get up in the air to see if they can take a closer look at it and see if they can figure out what the problem is. Yikes, this is scary!

6. I'm not superstitious but. . .
go back and look. On many flights that have been in trouble or doomed, take the flight numbers, add them up and get 13. Flight 292. :shudder:

in a huge circle from San Pedro to Catalina over Newport Coast/Huntington Harbor and back. The experts are trying to come up with a plan but right now they are focused on landing in Long Beach. But may divert to LAX.
