They were unable to dump the fuel, so it's coming in heavily-loaded.

The front landing gear is twisted to the side
It is an Airbus A-320........diverted from LGB because runway is too short for an emergency like this.
Probably to LAX or Edwards

7. 145 Passengers on board. |
|
And apparently Air buses can't dump fuel so he's coming in fully loaded. But the aviation experts are saying that there's a high probability that they can get it down safely.

8. 139 passengers aboard, per CNN just now. |
|
I didn't catch the crew figure.
CNN says plane is circling, burning fuel as noted upthread.

13. Wow, they think they may be watching MSNBC in the plane |
|
Jet Blue has the exclusive contract with Direct T.V, and each seat has it's own Television. They are not sure if those T.V's have been shut down.

38. So, a major airline pilot on DU, a professional long time ATC |
|
mean less to you than a talking head on MSNBC who is trying to thrill people?
As a former paramedic on a fire dept, I assure you that the ground crews have trained for this for years...really since Souix City in the eighties.....and that IF the landing is not good, they are there to do everything humanly possible to get those people out, and keep fires from starting.
However, if you choose to watch sensationalist journalism over people that are trained in this...well...that's OK.
Enjoy the show.

26. Damn. I's one thing to have the gear stuck |
|
up in the wheel well. The crew would first try to knock the gear lose by doing touch and goes. If that didn't work, they'd land and slowly lower the nose.
But with the nose gear stuck down and the wheels turned side ways, it's going to be much riskier. The gear will most likely snap off causing who knows what.
Crap!

27. This is just post-Katrina sensationalism void-filling by MSM..... |
|
Agreed, it's sort of serious but this type of situation isn't that rare, and typically resolves without tragedy/casualties.
They have live video and they are trying to beckon back all the viewers who were glued to the TV during Katrina.
