White House aides carry a letter delivered by anti-war activist, Cindy Sheehan, at the White House, Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, in Washington. Sheehan, whose son was killed in Iraq last year, is calling for the immediate return of troops from the region. Her 25-state tour is set to culminate Saturday with an anti-war march in Washington.(AP Photo/Lawrence Jackson)

12. I heard it on Free Speech Radio News (KPFA)
Damn, If I didn't have 2 kids, a job, and a hubby that travels at inconvenient times I might be able to see her in DC.

I'll be with her in spirit in SF or SJ!!

20. ONE rather UNUSUAL and SIGNIFICANT thing
The WH generally does not take hand-delivered letters, either here or at Crawford--they go out of their way to DENY, DEFLECT, and DENIGRATE. The acceptance of the letter by those SS signals, to me, weakness by the administration...they want this downplayed, and refusal to take it would be a news item.

Remember when Max Cleland tried to deliver a letter to the monkey at the pig farm, and said he would give it either to chimpy or his SS detail? They got a toady to try to intercept him, and he wasn't having it: http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/08/25/cleland.swiftboat/

Patterson said Bush had asked him to accept the letter from Cleland. But the Georgia Democrat refused to hand it over. Instead, he said he wanted to deliver the letter personally to Bush or, barring that, to a member of the Secret Service. When he succeeded at neither, Cleland took the message to the news media.
