Jet Blue at LAX, Rita, tornado in Minneapolis --
are things spinning out of control? I'll never forget an SNL skit during the 2000 campaign, showing a possible "President Bush" with a map behind him showing the Great Lakes on fire, and Mexico having reclaimed its territory from Texas to California. Not blaming all of this on W, but we're just about there, aren't we, folks?

4. I was just thinking about that skit yesterday
beer cans on the floor, fire outside his window, and gunshots. Just like the Onion inaugural day issue, reality is becoming stranger than fiction. :-(

16. That would be very weird.
But I probably would not notice. Living in the heart of Portland, I actually didn't know there was an ice storm (or didn't really know how bad it was) until 2 days into it.

Seriously though, I think the worst we can expect would be a biblical plague of black flies.
shivers thinking about it

18. I went without power, water, and heat for ten days in '98's storm. I was 9
months preggers and had influenza. The real kind.

I definitely noticed that storm and never want to go through that again. I wish I had that ecologically friendly passive/active solar house with woodstove back-up now. But no, am still in the same old trailer. :P

28. Indians look like they ain't losing
Yankees have won 9 of their last 10, and that can't keep up for 11 more games.

Plus, closing the season with three gtames in Fenway seems undoable. Oh yeah, and the Red Sox happen to be the better team this year. But oh what sweet revenge it would be to end the Red Sox season on the last day in Fenway. Every frat boy sporting his asinine Red Sox cap can eat me, too. ;-)
