Folks, THIS is the approved discussion thread. I have been trading PMS with Guy. He approved the content of this message, and it is an IMPORTANT one.

That said, The Guy James Show will offer its FINAL broadcast on October 1, 2005...unless you and the other regular listeners of the show are willing and able to contribute. The Guy James Show is a listener-supported show. Guy has reached the end of his ability to support this show through personal sacrifice and current user contribution levels.

Guy's stations have agreed to give The Guy James Show one week of free air-time so that they may further seek help. The show has enough money for this coming week, and Guy has been given us them following week free...and unless you and the other loyal listeners of The Guy James Show help, Guy will permanently leave the airwaves upon the close of the October 1, 2005 show."

If you read the "Latest" page on DU, you regularly see links to Air America, KGO, Thom Hartmann...and Guy James. Guy is one of the few passionate, committed, intelligent voices that we HAVE on the airwaves. The loss of his show would leave a void that would NOT be filled by these other hosts.

There's no more to go around at this point; I'm scrambling to make it to the first paycheck I'll have had since last June, and this one comes with a hefty pay cut. I've managed to keep sending a little, and I'll continue to do so each month as long as Guy is on the air.

To full appreciate that, we just need to look at the number of registered DUers.

As as Guy said in his message, he has been steadily moving forward in his goal to have the show syndicated.

He doesn't need "lifetime" support. He needs to sustain what he has right now while he works toward taking it to the next level.

Just THINK of how great it would be if DU contributed to Guy reaching a syndicated (and larger) audience.

It's within our reach, and all that anyone is asking (myself included) is do the best you can.

If you can't contribute, KICK the thread and NOMINATE it. Keep it at the top of GD until Guy sounds the "all clear."

We're trying to stay afloat and its going to take lots of help to do it. My wife and I have always subsidized much of the cost of the show from our own funds but thanks to the Bush economy our small business is down so much we can no longer afford to kick in for the show.

We've been soooooo close several times to get in syndication but we're still waiting. We have a fairly decent sized broadcasting company considering taking on our program on all of its stations along with some other Liberal voices as well. But, it will be a few months off into the future before this can happen. Until then we need to stay on the air somehow. I hope you can see the value of the show in this important swing state of Florida as well as the internet broadcast.

Thanks to all who help us get to where we need to be. We only need to buy a few months time.

Guy James spends $4000 a month on airtime/studio time.

He has to pay for three months at a time.

He is currently paying for 90% of that himself.
