Run if you are in Texas... Katrina gave us hell. Learn from us, run. |

Same thing I said last time. If you stay you are on your own during and for some time after. Police and Fire will be unable to respond. Leave...
There really is no reason to stay. You will be without power and water. If you are on city sewer you will be unable to flush or shower if the system goes down. Leave...
I live in Biloxi and I spent most of Katrina swimming and wading through my neighborhood. To many people stayed. There was nothing I could do for most of them. Alot of them are now dead. Leave. The Police and Fire department were not even able to get to us even though they risked their lives trying.
Word of advice... If your home starts flooding get the hell out. Do not go into the attic. Make a decision and get out. Go for higher ground. It was amazing how many people drowned in their homes. I was able to get several people out that were just standing in their homes as the water started rising. Leave. I do not know if it was shock that caused them to stay or what. Many died... Leave.
There is no reason to stay. Stuff is just stuff. Property is not worth drowning for... I lost everything I own and you know what.... it does not really matter because my family is alive. Leave. Stuff is just stuff.

I have a friend in Biloxi who stayed because her hubby didn't think there was a danger. They lived less than two blocks from the beach. Their house is standing but badly damaged, they lost almost everything on the first floor. Luckily, they and their pets survived, unlike many of their neighbors. Stuff isn't worth risking your life for. Get out!

Peace to you and yours. I hope things are getting better for you.
I hope some here listen to you, too.
