Police Find Relief Supplies in City Official's Home
http://ap.tbo.com/ap/breaking/MGB3131FWDE.html

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Police found cases of food, clothing and tools intended for hurricane victims at the home of the chief administrative officer for a New Orleans suburb, authorities said Wednesday.

Officers searched Cedric Floyd's home because of complaints that city workers were helping themselves to donations for hurricane victims. Floyd, who runs the day-to-day operations in the suburb of Kenner, was in charge of distributing the goods.

Police plan to seek a charge of committing an illegal act as a public official against Floyd, and more charges against other city workers are possible, police Capt. Steve Caraway said.

The donations filled a large pickup truck four times. "It was an awful lot of stuff," Caraway said.

6. You're partly right
Jefferson Parish is the immediate suburbs outside the city limits. So there was certainly a lot of damage.

But the parish is also mostly white and Republican.

11. It's more than simple looting
It's looting from the needy. The looters took things that were going to be written off as damaged goods due to Katrina. This is stealing out of the mouths of hungry children, and starving adults.

8. Anderson Cooper was in Kenner the other day
And did any of you see the shouting match between Floyd and the other guy? Think it might have been the sheriff. And then later, Anderson was talking to a member of the city counsel, and he was the one who said that Floyd was hoarding the hurricane supplies. Looks like someone listened to him and checked things out. I saw the footage of the raid they made -- boxes and boxes of things stacked up in this guy's garage. SHAME!

12. That's what I thought
I saw that shouting match and reserved judgement on who may or may not have been the "bad guy".

Wow. This doesn't look good for him.

Being a chief administrative officer AND stealing are beyond horrible. Plus, I believe you said it was 4 frigging truckloads?
Felony, expulsion from the force, and string the sucker up!

16. I say a little old fashioned water torture is in order
time to drip, drip, drip a little water in a small room, right down his face for a few days. See if he likes being without food or fresh water while wondering if anyone is ever going to come and save him.

Yeah, that would do it I think.
