However there are many good people in Sugarland who do not. I'm not sure where Sugarland is, but someone on WU mentioned emailing the latest storm maps to his boss in Sugarland, and he didn't think he'd like them.
Which makes me wonder how DeLay will look at funding for hurricane victims, say, next week.

but there are folks in his district who'll suffer. Let's not politicize(sp) a natural disaster. Leave that to freepers.

Unfortunately, the others don't. It would be extremely faith-affirming if DeLay and his property were all that was destroyed, but nature has no religion and no particular vendetta. Nature doesn't like ANY of us.

18. used to be sugar plantation |
|
Sugar cane everywhere, except at the Imperial mill. Now the mill is closed, and most of the sugar fields are tract development and big box stores. It's a giant hellish suburb, everything that is wrong with urban development.
That said, lots of middle income people live there only because the housing is relatively inexpensive. I have a sorta-relative-by-marriage there. Her house will almost certainly get flooded, what with the bayou not a mile away. Sucks big time.

The weather is changing and nothing we ever depended on will stay true.
I read, on Greg Masters' blog, that some meteorologists think this is just a normal cycle like fifty years ago. They are professionally trained idiots. The Ross Ice Shelf is melting. It's been frozen for six million years. This is no normal cycle.
